The “old-timer” is refering to the “long-time users”, nothing to do with age.
Truth to be told, RetroSharky and I share many more 3D printing views than not. I don’t mind having this debate about the role of AI. In a way, the debate can help clear out some misconceptions about AI.
What I didn’t appreciate was that he made it personal at the end. I can still see his later posts but since he has decided to delete them, I will let it go as well.
Here’s my view: AI is a tool, a very powerful one at that. Trillons of dollars had been spent on it. Trilions more per year will be invested on it going forward. It is here to stay.
There are wrong ways to use it. such as generating an AI image that is not a reflection of the real model to mislead users (one such subjects that RetroSharky and I strongly oppose 
)
But we can use it in good ways. One of the good ways is to use it as the first go-to place to get answers to our questions.
For users who don’t know where to start using AI, start with Google that everyone already uses. Google’s AI Overview is powered by Gemini. Anyone who used Google after May 2024 in the US already used AI, even for those who may have sworn they would never use AI If one has a question, asks it like one would ask a live person and see what it can come up with,
I may be the one who stand here to try to convince people to make the transition fron veiwing it as a threat to seeing it as a tool, but there are others who already used AI as their primary source.
For example, this user shared 17 lessions that they learned and recommend using ChatGPT as the 4th lesson, in which they said “I recommend getting a subscription to Chat GPT or Claude. It has saved me untold hours diagnosing issues”
