Absolutely reasonable and our designs SHOULD be classified as art. Technology is constantly changing our world so who knows?
There is good and bad in the world and unfortunately weâre living in the bad. We have nowhere to go but up!
Lots of a great thoughts in this discussion.
I have found myself swinging back and forth on these thoughts. I do share pics of my model prints/renders but to date have not released any stls. I donât really want to get into the side hustle. At the same time Iâve considered doing print on demand prints but againâŚnot interested in setting up a shop. I have shared a few models with IRL friends who I know wonât be selling/sharing. I appreciate those who have found a real outlet for their creativity and are willing to share their talents, for free or a price, but I donât think anyone else is obliged to. Internet culture is always so quick to try to monetize a hobby to validate it. I have a day job. Maybe someday Iâll invent the perfect viral model and retire on it but until then, Iâm quite content to muddle away and enjoy the successes of others, however they choose to define it. Have a great evening!
Assolutamente giusto, non bisogna appropriarsi dellâintuito o dellâidea di altri per proprio a favore speculativo!!
Buskers donât pay royalties. Are they stealing?
I would say technically yes.
Iâm not very knowledgeable about this, so please take this with a huge grain of salt: I think it can vary by country, but I do think buskers are supposed to have a license for the music theyâre performing in some cases.
The buskers that I have known have indicated to me that they pay neither royalties or taxes.
What is your point? Buskers should technically pay royalties, wether they do or not is another thing.
The thieves I know also rarely pay for their groceries. Iâm not sure how one person stealing justifies another person stealing? Either they donât pay royalties while they should so you canât compare it or they donât have to pay royalties and you canât compare it.
Only if you need to pay royalties and the buskers do pay royalties it is comparable and it applies in the same way people have to pay for commercial rights or other activities that are not permitted by the license
I get where youâre coming from - itâs frustrating to see negativity in a space that should be about learning and collaboration. That said, sharing models and keeping them private are both valid choices. The issue isnât just about putting designs out there, but about respecting creatorsâ rights. Just like leaving your car outside doesnât mean itâs free for the taking, sharing a model publicly shouldnât automatically mean itâs fair game for commercial use. Maybe whatâs needed is better licensing awareness and platforms that enforce creator rights more strictly. Curiousâwould you ever consider sharing under a license that protects against reselling?
I just like the fact I can.
- Think of an idea.
- Create a 3D drawing.
- make a 3D print.
- Share it with others.
- See other people make my model, give feedback and take it to the next level if they like.
