Why is the H2d so expensive. The H2d itself is a pretty good price. With the ams pro it is still a fair price, but with even a 10w laser, the price is crazy high. The 10w laser attachment should not cost more than 200$ I say this because Crealtiy has a full huge 10w laser engraver for 350$ (not advertising) . I also think they over priced the laser protection glass, which should only cost another 150$. Bambu made a 600$ price increase which was way to much, so I think that the laser and ams pro combo should cost 2.5k$.
Comes with more than just the laser and shark head attachment
$600 for a laser, cutting module, 2 build plates, an emergency stop button, and new glass isn’t bad.
Don’t buy the laser. Case closed. But for the laser and all the items REQUIRED for the laser, it’s actually pretty cheap. I’ve 4 Real lasers, and wouldn’t ever think about buying an all in one, but I might buy the Base with the new AMS. and that IS a bargain actually
Just for a comparison two years ago I bought the Xtool D1 with an enclosure, air assist and the honeycomb bottom. At the time it was on sale and it wasn’t in demand because the D1 Pro had come out. It did NOT have any sort of fire detection. Everything I listed was $725. It came with a 10w laser. Shortly after that I upgraded to a 20w laser and JUST the laser head was $692. Remember the H2D combo also comes with all the vinyl cutting stuff. A Cricut costs like $250. Like many other people have said before me I wouldn’t be interested in an all-in-one but the prices aren’t bad at all.
According to CNC kitchen video review, the laser protection glass is actually made of wobbling green plastic … or at least the door is.
And scratches realy easy. Hopefully doesnt warp, but Im not sure what the material is.
Does anybody know if in the future bambu is going to sell the laser head individually for a cheaper price?
At this point in time? Can’t really foretell what Bambu might want to do today, let alone what they’re going to do in the future… You stand (perhaps) better guess chances to find out if you’ll talk to a Gipsy fortune teller …
Ok, that probably makes sense, but I am pretty sure they are going to sell them individually because they are already selling the marker attachment and cutting attachment.
I have heard there will be a “laser add-on” available in the future but I would suspect it will cost more than buying a unit that is already equipped. Example being the P1P plus the “upgrade” kit costs more than a P1S.
I’m not a buyer for reasons I’ve already elaborated on plenty around this forum, but I will admit it does have some nice improvements (assuming they work well), especially with the AMS units.
The extra features with the laser, cutter, plotter I suppose are nice to get all that affordably in a compact space, but it’s hard to beat a dedicated machine for those if you really want to get into that stuff. Not sure if it’s worth it the cost for just occasional use.
They probably will at some point, but I wouldn’t count on “cheaper” for any of those upgrades. Also for the laser specifically, if you’re referring to upgrading a non-laser model to a laser model, I feel like an upgrade is almost not feasible.
With all the safety concerns… eye protection etc., you’d need to replace all the windows/door, add the emergency shut off, and I think there’s other stuff too (flame detection?)… Even if you could manually upgrade all that stuff they might not want to trust a customer doing it for liability reasons.
If you really think you might want to get into laser cutters (and you want to be convinced not to fall for the marketing FOMO here), you might be better off just getting a dedicated machine by someone with more experience and specialization with that sort of thing. Shoving it into your 3D printer is a cost and space saving short cut IMO (which may be the only option for some people). And put it this way… a day ago were you even thinking you needed a laser cutter?
I think the cheapest this stuff will be is right now, in the bundle. Youll also need the air pump, filtration, door and side plastics etc later. Other option is wait until black friday
quite so…till black Friday you’ll have time to see how it performs, watch more in-depth reviews, what tech, quality and/or reliability issues might have, how does it work out with replacement parts and… with currently the infamous customer support… shipping and delivery, duties, customs taxes and (trade war) tariffs… just don’t rush it… you’re…
I agree. The first hit is free concept. This is their chance to get this item out there and in demand. If it does well, don’t expect prices to stay here or have specials the same price.
Yes they said a laser upgrade kit will be available in June, its in the FAQ. Although my guess the price will be higher than buying the laser combo.
While I see the immediate appeal of laser (or CNC) in a 3D Printer
when I think about it logically, it makes no sense to me to have either of those things in a 3D printer.
I can’t see how the mess inside will not affect the 3D Printing aspect.
The knife cutter is limited in force 600gf vs 5000gf and thickness 0.5mm vs 3mm and features.
Dedicated Machine (that has a cover) and larger work area 400*415mm working area is approx $1000 AUD more than the extra on the H2D price
H2D 10W = +$1000 AUD
Falcon2 Pro 22W = $2143 AUD
or a xTool S1 for $1500 AUD
H2D 40W = +$2000 AUD
Falcon2 Pro 40W + 1.6W = $3133 AUD
Then you get something a bit more versatile like the xTool M1 which can laser cut/engrave, blade cut and inkjet on to things you are cutting 10W for $1800 AUD
They will but it’s not going to be cheaper. They have to include the glass too so probably like $800.
I thought the lasers were priced crazy high also, until I learned that they are dual frequency! Diode lasers are small and easy to move around, but limited by color frequencies. The blue diodes cannot cut/mark clear or most white colored objects. But, I learned that these lasers also use the infrared frequency which is really expensive at low wattage, but can mark metal.
The inclusion of this infrared laser increases the options for this module, but it drastically increases the cost also.
