well you could have not moved it… just for you to get two rolls of filament it seems pretty unnecessary
I accidentally took this awesome shot - I couldn’t be bothered turning on all the lights and this is how I usually have my room lit! I had to share it. (No link for this yet, still working on it)
Filament winder? I’ve been meaning to print one of those as I’ve got a few obnoxious spools I want to transfer. Let me know when it releases! The photos look amazing!
This is an earlier prototype but check out the 90 second filament transfer video in the description
That’s awesome!
The receiver side is done and the spinner donor side is in a pretty good state. Took this pic - maybe a little over-exposed now that I look at it again. Did some minimal editing on the phone.
To stay on topic, took this picture with 6x GU10 “CRI 80+” 10 watt lightbulbs in the room pointing at the walls. 3 are in the ceiling, and 3 are here for my giant soft box.
Awesome! Those photos look perfect (and that’s a lotta filament boxes in the background )
I wanted to share a small tip that I’ve found helpful lately. For a quick way to add some colorful backlight, I just wrapped this LED strip around a paper towel tube, secured it with some gaffer tape and then dropped it on the floor near the wall in my background.
Obviously, there are better solutions for this effect but I was happy with the results for a quick, hack-y option. Shown here providing a purple backlight and slight rim light in a detail shot:
Now this is a solid tip
I like it
Learned a lot from your guide, much appreciated.
I’ve had a few users message me and ask how to make super smooth GIF covers with high frame rates so I figured I’d add that info here.
I start with a high quality video recorded with plenty of light, edit it to the desired aspect ratio and length and then export it as a 1080p video. I upload the video to EZGIF which includes a lot of great tools to optimize the frame rate and file size of GIF’s when converting. MakerWorld has a 30MB limit for images so I adjust the frame rate and duration to get it close to that target and then convert to GIF. Once you’ve converted the file to GIF you can further optimize the file size if needed and save the final result to your PC.
EZGIF is what I use as well, it’s amazing! Thanks for sharing the process!
EZGIF is also what I use! It really shines with adjusting frame rate.

Thank you for the excellent thread and contribution to the community!
One thing I wanted to add was that I had been using my Pixel 6a for photos and videos but recently found a deal on an open-box Sony ZV-1 and have been blown away at the difference in quality, especially for videos. I’m still learning a lot about lighting and camera settings but it’s been a big improvement to the quality of my images and videos if anyone is on the fence about investing into camera gear.
Added this and the GIF advice to the main thread!
Btw what camera do you use for your pics @h3li0 ?
i have a fuji xt5
I skipped through the info and replies.
Have to say it is well done and certainly aims to help those starting or struggling.
If you don’t mind some old fart asking stupid things…
I noticed quite a few times that on MW the posts get more and more ‘uniform’.
Clear pics, often some animated GIF’s and more.
But I also noticed a growing number of users struggling badly, as in there models taken down based on FALSE claims that no original image was used that shows a real print.
You know what problem all these users share ?
Great image quality, great print quality AND presenting the object like a pro - like explained so great in this thread here.
No one seems to wonder why this nice and clean approach is the same the fraudsters use for their AI generated pics…
There is even quite a few where it is clear they have been photoshopped…
the complaints from users and MW are always the same, so I was wonder if you as the creator of these image standards could help out ?
If we do it all like the AI fraudsters do it means either we copied this simple look or they did.
Identifying them without reverting to bots and AI seems to not really work at MW.
But I noticed that there is big difference between AI generated images and real ones - the HEADER INFO.
Your camera provides info about the lens, settings but if enabled also the location, time and other things.
This could be used very easy to identify fraud right when the images are uploaded - at least if real images from a real camera are mandatory.
What about the image itself though ???
A plain and shadow free background, ideal for green screen mods and editing…
Nothing at all to identify anything…
Wouldn’t it be possible to include something in the shot to change this, something not that easy to implement on the fly with AI?
