Hello everyone!
I think my fellow designers have really expressed it well, when talking about the benefits and excitement of this new R/C hardware. I’m not even entirely sure what I could add that hasn’t already been expressed. I encourage all of you to go check out the other threads posted up here under the CyberBrick section of the forum, to scope out their excellent models and thoughtful write ups.
I’m very excited about the hardware here, and the potential creations that will come of it. A few have questioned why Bambu didn’t just partner with an existing hardware manufacture. The thing is, is this, this is ours! It’s built for us, and tailored for us.
I’m no stranger to electronics, R/C projects, all this kind of stuff. One of the big issues I had in the past was accessibility. I’m comfortable enough with electronics, but being able to source components, have the skills and knowledge to assemble it all. It can be a lot. There’s been a number of projects I wanted to do, but just sourcing the electrical components was a huge pain. There’s one project I started, and the design is awesome, but the designer didn’t provide anything for the electronics beyond mounts for the motors. I’m going to have to completely come up with something on my own, and it’s frustrating.
Basically, point being. This is a product for us. For us designers, it gives a ton of flexibility and expandability. For users, it gives them a one stop shop for all the key hardware, and that hardware can be taken from project to project as one see’s fit.
The walking table has been a fun little project. It’s difficult to just focus on one idea though, and I’ve already got a list of projects I want to finish, that utilize this hardware. I can’t wait for the release of the hardware, when I can share these models with you too.
Here’s a few more photos, and a link to Instagram where I posted a little video if it walking. I’m still trying to dust off my photography skills a little, haha.
My remote control is inspired by industrial remote controls. I’m not sure how well it fits with the concept of the walking table, but I don’t know, I just thought it was cool and wanted to do it. @ozarkexpeditions touched on this, about the controllers. I think one of the neat things about this is really, you’re not tied to any one particular controller. It’s going to be interesting to see just what sort of custom and universal controllers people will come up with.
Thanks to @BambuLab and @CyberBrick for inviting me along this journey with them.
