There is something seriously wrong with the X2D

I purchased the X2D as an addition to my X1C (Great Machine). I’m not here to be trouble shotting this every few minutes or a beta tester.

constant load errors, Filament will not load errors, AMS assist motor overloaded etc. This is happening to multiple people besides me.

The set up is AMS,AMS2,HT with the switch. I put the X2D in the same location with the same AMS,AMS2,HT that has been working perfectly with the X1C for the last year.

The X2D was expected to be equal to or better than the X1C. I would of been happy with another X1C that machine is a beast. I needed capacity and the X2D was just released as the next best thing over the X1C

Spools are plastic or printed for Bambu filament. I have had the X2D for a few day and it has been un able to complete a single multi color print. It will load, print into the purge tower then unload never making an attempt to continue the print it just purged into the purge tower and should be able to go from the tower to the model and print a line, it goes back to the poop chute and unloads the filament. It just keeps repeating this and then errors.

This does not seem to be a problem when using the right hot end only the left hot end… (and people said this was a mistake :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile: )

In the morning I will swap out the X2D with my X1C same AMS,AMS2,HT to see if it is something outside the X2D causing this problem, I’m sure the X1C will working perfectly as this is the same set up the X1C has been running daily for the last year with no errors flaws or down time.

And for the people that say I should of got an H, The H is TOO BIG for the space and shelf area I have in my shop. It will not fit on a shelf both in depth and height. The X models fit the space perfectly. I also do not need the mass area to print huge objects. The X1C will print the files I need in the space I have and has been doing that very well for the past year.

For testing/nailing the error I would take the Filament Splitter out of the equation.

First, your post is incredibly hard to follow. Decide if you want help or if you want to vent, and stick to one of the two. Just the facts, as they say.

Troubleshoot this exactly as you wpukd troubleshoot any other filament feed issue - disconnect every tube, inspect it for wear, ends that are not cut square, or kinks in the tube. I often use a piece of scrap filament to push through tubing to “feel” for myself what the AMS feels when it’s feeding, it’s also very helpful for tracing filament paths and figuring out where an issue is.

Also consider printing and installing the official Bambu filament track switch feed tubes, they go on the back of each AMS unit and guide the tubes into a very gentle curve, I think everyone should be running these if they have any feed concerns, regardless of if they’re using a track switch or not.

I’m also consistently having feed issues. It appears that my AMS HT is able to feed filament all the way to the left (primary) hotend, but the hotend gears won’t start to feed once the filament reaches it, so it thinks there’s a jam. But, if I disconnect the PTFE tube, feed it a piece and manually extrude the filament, there is no issue feeding at all. Reinstall tube and try to feed from AMS and the issue comes back. Very frustrating, have only been able to get a single print to actually feed and i’m not sure what the issue is.

It is very difficult to feed filament into the left extruder because of how tight the turns are by the time the filament gets near the nozzle. I really have to work hard to get it all the way there by hand. I don’t have an AMS on mine, but if I did, I would imagine it wouldn’t be able to get there in a reliable way. Once it is in there, the extruder pulls it in and through okay.

I have no idea how hard it is to get to the right nozzle, as I’ve never had filament in mine.

I would suggest a firmware update to this printer to load/unload the filament at the front/center of the machine. Once it is picked up by the extruder, it can go back to the purge chute to complete the purge.

It doesn’t even appear to be the major issue. I’m feeding PA6 which is incredibly stiff, and it gets to the extruder and even makes the turn just fine. But, once it gets to the point where the extruder gears should be grabbing it they don’t start to spin/grab and the AMS just thinks it’■■■■■ a jam and unloads/retries in an infinite loop.

I was printing with PA6 GF. But even when I printed a benchy with PLA for its first print, it was very hard to get to the extruder.

I had trouble initially with Slot 1 of the AMS that came pre-digested inside the X2D. Message was failed to load and physical scenario was that the filament got stuck before it exited the AMS’s rear PTFE. Disconnected all the ptfe and reconnected including the internals, one print worked, fingers crossed

Also unrelated; the location of the aux spool holder rubs its own ptfe on the edge of the spool! Blargh

Same issues with my setup: new X2D, AMS2pro on every slots. Unable to grab filament to extruder. The filament itself arrive to input of left extruder, but no extrusion. When attach my old AMS (3 yrs old) from X1C everything work well.

I would remove FTS, make sure all PTFE tubes are correctly installed (remove them and plug them back in) the way the video shows—there are different colors of PTFE tubes going into different holes, etc.—and use one Bambu Lab filament on a Bambu spool, just for testing. I already racked 200 hours and not a single error. I watched the video when I was assembling it, as there are small things that you can miss. X2D is as solid if not better than X1C.

Most of the PTFE tubes were factory installed… four of the six connections. For me, I only had to get one right - the dark grey tube to the left extruder as I haven’t used the right extruder yet.

I have seen almost every error you can think of…

This problem can occur if there is a broken piece of filament stuck in the PTFE path between the AMS and the extruder.

It can also happen if there is too much drag in the PTFE path. You can check this by manually feeding filament through the full path. You should feel virtually no resistance when doing this.

The third, less likely cause is a failing AMS mainboard or motor. I have had that issue as well. In my case, it started with random errors similar to the one you are seeing, and eventually both the motor and the mainboard failed.

Oopsy. Longer tube maybe? Embarrassing for the design team. I have a Sunlu Dryer on top next to the AMS 2. Hadn’t tried to use that holder yet. Good thing.

I was using the the AMS2 and external spool happily, but once I introduced the track switch with a AMS-HT, I started seeing repeat insertion issues to the left nozzle. It gets all the way down the path and then stops maybe 10mm from the entrance to the toolhead.

I don’t think the track switch works well if you deviate in anyway from the standard installation. But the standard installation doesn’t work for me in the way I have my rig setup.

Had the exact same thing happening to mine when I first got it, the tube going into the main toolhead had a very sharp curve from factory. I also had to take off the clip closest to the tool head, move it back 2 segments, and swap it with the auxiliary ptfe tube. Auxiliary on top, main on bottom. Has eliminated all feed issues, I have even had the AMS 2 pro feed PAHT-CF and PPA set to 65°

You are definitely on to something here. It’s asking to do a 180 degree turn with filament in the span of about 6 inches or so with very sharp bends.

I haven’t gotten feed issues, but have enough AMS units to realize when one is “slower” pushing than other models.

I’ll try this one at the very least as it’s very obvious the angle of the PTFE from the buffer to the feeder inside the printer is to sharp of a curve.
