These machines will AGE and need REPAIRS

Users need CAD, STEP, F3D, STL, 3MF files of the parts of the H2D et.al. that users will come in contact when performing MAINTENANCE and REPAIR of these printers.

My personal experience with bambu support has been ABYSMAL. If I had access to these CAD files I would be able to affect repairs ON MY OWN without the sheer amount of frustration I have been through so far.

I owned my H2D for 4 months before it STOPPED WORKING due to FAULTY PARTS. I have struggled with bambu and the H2D for another 5 month and the printer is still NOT WORKING.

For my part, I FULLY REGRET BUYING THE H2D.

Having access to the CAD designs would help with this fiasco even if just in the smallest way..

Bless your heart.

I agree you have a problem, but the solution you’re expecting probably isn’t going to help you, and certainly isn’t going to be helpful for most people.

I recently asked Ford Motor Company, if they could give me access to all the 3D CAD models of my car so I could create my own spare parts.

They denied it. I still wonder why?

You can get all the spare parts on the website.

Btw. You forgot to ask for the source code of the firmware.

I think you might be better off with an open source printer like a Voron or a RatRig. Then you have access to all the components in CAD and you can do your own changes to hardware and firmware.

What’s actually wrong with your printer ?

It started with the hotend fan failing less than 4 months in. Every printer I own, including the X1C, takes less than 20min to swap the fan. Check the wiki, it is not easy by any stretch. At least that is my opinion. The story ends 5 months later with bambu sending me a $600 x-axis assembly rather than a $0.02 piece of foam tape. I may buy bambu parts (because I will need them) but I will never buy another bambu printer.

Ahh the hot end fan issue, yes, it’s an issue, but it’s not a total boycott Bambu scenario. I don’t print with a heated chamber so it’s a non issue for me.

Snark much? IMHO your comments are entirely unhelpful.

As for the repairs, I’m guessing you haven’t had to repair a bambu H2D yet. In my case I had to replace the entire x-axis assembly. There are two screws that have flat ends, which go into flat holes (no bevels), while passing through a mount so this must be achieved in the blind. I finaly had to design and print a screw guide to accomplish the task.

I didn’t ask for “all the 3D CAD models”, rather just the parts that users will encounter while performing maintenace and repairs (real life example provided.) Given that I was talking about a 3D printer and not a car, I don’t think it’s too much to ask.

As well, it’s not a matter of parts being available on the website, it’s more of installing them.

Btw, I did not forget to ask for the source code. I intentionally did not.

As for your reply I find your thinking I would be “better off” with an open source printer very disingenous. You have litteraly no way of knowing what is best for me.

Since you mentioned it, I own two Voron printers (among others) and wouldn’t touch a RatRig for any reason. I bought my X1C and H2D pritners for very specific purposes.

Getting back to the main point: bambu lab charges a Premium Price for a purpoted premium product, while providing a terrible warranty, and in my case forces their customers to fight for warranty parts.

If that isn’t bad enough, the wiki doesn’t even cover all the steps to complete the repair. Perhaps it’s just me but I feel that asking for something to ease the frustration is entirely justified.

I really can’t understand what you hoped to accomplished with your snarky response. Did you make an informed and intelligent statement? I can’t be sure, but IMHO not likely.

I hope this doesn’t come accross as argumentative, that is not how it is intended.

If it were simply a hotend fan (check the wiki, on the H2D it’s no where near simple) I may not have formed by current opinion. It’s their (imho) terrible warranty, atrocious support and 5 month long battle to get warranty parts. Failing to to send the parts needed was a breach of contract and I had to resort to contacting my credit card company and requesting their help. That got bambu lab’s attention. Send the parts or face a charge back from the cc company. No customers should have to go through what I was subjected to.

it just need “THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER”

I get the impression that the problem was the fan failing (common for all fans), and that you had a hard time replacing it; maybe breaking parts in the process? (CAD to replace them?).

I’m not sure if you are blaming BBL for not sending you a fan (I would have just ordered one or gotten a third party; they are mostly standard), or for the process of replacing it being difficult, leading to you breaking something?

I didn’t have to replace the X-axis assembly and the hot-end fan yet. And yes I know they can be a PitA to replace.

You weren’t very clear on why you needed those parts. You created the impression that wanted to print your own components.

Also your initial post is already filled with a lot of capitalized words, setting already a bad standard to begin with.

I didn’t say “you would”, but “think you might”.

Asking for something is never a problem. But in your initial post you’re are not really asking for anything. It’s more a kind of demanding tone you are setting there.

Yes! I was snarky in my response, but you basically asked for it with the intonation in your first post, and basically demanding CAD models without clearly explaining why you needed them.

If I have to replace the hot-end fan, I literally come into contact with each part of the tool head. So you are literally asking for a major part of the models.

I didn’t downvote your post btw., but you still have them. So guess why?

Maybe if you would have started off differently, the responses would have been more positive.

Now coming back to your question for parts that you might need for repairs, I think it would be better to ask for improvement of the wiki. And ask for tooling models to accomplish the maintenance tasks.

You personally might benefit from the CAD data, as would I, but most people don’t have access to a CAD system or knowledge enough for developing (dis)assembly tools in a CAD system.

I have built my own Voron also and used the CAD models for mounting my own hot-end and make several other modifications to support my customizations.

But people here are more helped with an improvement on the wiki than CAD models of the printer.

Ah yes, I had some people like you approach me as customers. Next thing I knew they asked for the stls of the items they were interested in. They took offence and started insulting me when i said they are not for sale.

Grow up.

This reminds me of when someone tweets in the wee hours of the morning. Can’t quite put my finger on it….

I’m struggling with this. Really. I can understand a need for parts and defective units.
What would you do with the .CAD files? You can’t even get your printer to work.

I bet BL feels the same. I know I do. (Regret you buying that is)

Parts are available. Down to the frame parts. What would you do with a file? You would only be able to reproduce parts that are plastic. Are you going to farm out the board to PCBWay?

Speaking of PCBWay, they are today’s sponsor! If you have a need for custom built parts, check them out!

(how was that for smooth?)
Good luck on your endeavor! Have fun storming the castle!

These printers will age and will need repair. But they will also become obsolete in a few years given the rate of progression for FDM printers. By the time the vast number of consumers, not the professional printers, need parts buying a new unit would be a better option as the technology advances. Small parts and consumable parts are available for purchase, although sometimes only as an assembly. This is not an open source printer so you should not expect them to act as one. I haven’t had problems with BL CS but have had a part fail (buffer). They are sending a replacement after a brief back and forth.

The printers aren’t perfect but they’re dependable as well as better than almost anything on the market.
You have it spot on. Most of the parts your going to need are available. Most that I’ve come across have stockpiled parts to avoid downtime. The parts aren’t expensive and the wiki is very good.

I think that’s due to your asking for CAD files which an open source printer maker may provide. In fact, you later stated that you will never buy another BL printer, which means your next printer will be open source, as all other brands are.

Since you have decided to be done with BL printers, one option is to sell the H2D and the part(s) that you got. Explain what happened and what part you got but not yet installed. Someone may buy it if the price is good.

No i don’t need them. I can check mechanical and electric issues by mere standard procedure.
printer, dishwasher, fridge, car, motorcycle are all the absolute same for me. difference between a motorcycle and a 3d printer, the first have pumps for liquids. period. :joy:
