Interesting! But I think it is reeealy expensive. For 1kg, I pay ~ 30 - 35€. They don’t even state the weight, only number of packs and shipping weight. so it is certainly above 40, maybe 50 $/kg. But the bummer is: they write it is only one time use! No regeneration! I think I have gone through 20kg within one year. Never would want buy that new every time.
It’s actually pretty crazy how much effort goes into drying the filament. That makes sense. But on the other hand, Bambu neglects the fact that the filament shouldn’t get moist in the first place. That’s really the root of the problem:
- When will Bambu release a room dehumidifier?
Joking aside, people often overlook just how much of a difference this makes. Here’s an example from my own experience: I have a room with low humidity, and once, because I forgot, I stored unpackaged filament there for over a year, and it was still fine. Admittedly, this isn’t a scientific measurement, but it shows that the room shouldn’t be overlooked.
- To get back to the actual topic: No regeneration? No, thanks.
They probably mark it as nonregen because its a mix of mostly alumina oxide and a small amount of what looks like silica indicator. I do this with my alumina oxide. The mix makes it hard to dry the alumina without the silica getting discolored. I just do it anyways and add a few new beads =p harder to do in a sealed sachet though.
It’s called an air conditioner. ![]()
Actually I should add that the PRC commonly uses weather control (cloud seeding rockets etc) to affect the weather for important events like sports; perhaps you can order a launch from Bambu Handy?
edit Perhaps slightly misleading; it’s common for them to use it, but not common to use it for sports. I know of only 2 events for which it was done, but I do not follow that kind of news and I’m sure there are more.
I can see these useful for what they are meant for: inside the AMS to quickly pull down the humidity level after the opening of AMS for filament reload.
I don’t need these for PLA or even PETG, but for other filaments that are more moisture sensitive, they can serve a good purpose.
While on the topic of moisture reduction, here is a product suggestion for @BambuLab :
A filament storage case that has individual chamber for each roll. Imagine a case that has 4 separate chambers for 4 rolls, each having its own airtight lid so taking out one roll doesn’t expose the rest to the air. Make the case strong and stackable for up to 4 or 5 layers. Again this is not needed for PLA, but for hygroscopic filaments, it will be very usesful.

If the orange indicator dye being used is the same as either of the two different orange indicator dyes commonly used on silca gel desiccant, then the high temperatures needed to regenerate molecular sieve would completely destroy the indicator dye on even the very first regeneration.
Yes, absolutely. So Better separate the indicators from the molecular sieve. In every AMS, we have humidity sensors anyway. So they could even remove them completely. When you use the satchels as intended in the back, you can’t see them anyway ![]()
