Hello, I’m trying to use the first frame of a gif to shows as the preview image of a model I just published. This is the gif:
Although it is showed correctly on windows’ preview:
When I use it as cover on Makerworld, the preview showed is a different frame (likely the second). Then when I move the mouse over the image, it glitches showing the first frame and playing the gif.
Does anyone know what am I doing wrong?
It looks like you did your gif in Canva. I had something similar… I don’t remember 100%, but as I am not mistaken, your main picture is too long. Try to change the time for it for a half a second.
BTW, good to ask in this Topic. Why my Gifs are much slower on the phone app? How many frames per sec we should do it?
What’s Canva? I just used an online editor to place an image on the first frame.
What do you mean by “too long”? The duration of the frame it’s 8ms, same as the other frames.
Try to do it with another editor, maybe it’s will help
Tried with ezgif e gifgit.
I’d rather understanding what’s the criteria used by Makerworld or what am I doing wrong though.
Try to do it with Canva, free version
Yeah no, Canva is aweful can’t achieve anything with that.
I solved it like a big boy
:
I moved the first frame to the second position.
Turns out, Makerworld actually uses the second frame for the thumbnail’s preview.

I ran into this two and did some testing, it’s definitely the second frame of the gif that is used for the thumbnail. It makes no sense… but that’s how it works.

The cover image is the first frame in all of my GIFs, and as recently as a GIF uploaded less than an hour ago.
strange - I just had an issue with this today. I uploaded a test gif with the frame number visible on each frame, and it showed 2. Maybe some other factor impacts it as well? idk.
That’s interesting. I wonder if the first frame in question is too short in duration. The duration shouldn’t matter but just in case, maybe as a test, double the duration of the first frame and see what happens?
Doesn’t matter the duration of the frame for me, it’s always the second frame.
No big deal, I just move the last frame to the top and then put the cover.
What do you use to make the gif? I wonder if that matter. EZGIF for me.
