inlaws got my kids an a1 mini for xmas, i’ve had a p1s for just over a month and it’s been pretty solid, including the estimated print times.
I got the mini setup for them this afternoon and they selected the included panda model to test print from the built in screen, it fires it up and starts the process it said it would be a hair over 10hour long print.
Needless to say I was a bit shocked, but figured i’d let it run and see. It started the foot print and it just about filled the bed so I just figured maybe estimate wasn’t so crazy, checked on it every so often and seemed to be making good progress but still showed that same print time. It finished somewhere around 5ish hours(if even that much).
Is this typical for the mini, to grossly over estimate the print time for a model?
Do you have the AMS Lite and doing the panda as a multicolour print?
As the time estimate is default to the 3 colour Panda and doing it in one colour without the filament changes would cause this estimate to be way to high, like what you’ve experienced.
If I’m wrong, maybe try slicing your own thing and comparing that time estimate to reality
nope, just plain mini, that’s the other thing, it did a print tower also which i thought was odd since it was only single color, and i didn’t see an option in the print selection for it. so that might be it, even though there was only one filament it acted like there were more?
I think it’s just that though a1 mini willl have longer print times vs p1s. But with the tower it sounds like the slicer wasn’t refreshed to not do the tower and things like that. Using bambu studio?
It printed the tower because it was a multi color print. It took less than 10 hours because you only printed in 1 color. The model is sliced for 3 colors.
no the kids printed it from the display, but i’ll be sure they use studio from here on out, they were impatient to try it
