New X1C printer.
First print, time lapse was checked green.
Could not find any video. There are files on the card when I put in the computer, but none of them work.
The screen on the printer just says “Empty”.
I turned off the video and formatted the card again in the printer.
Turned the video on 1080P
Started another pre-sliced print (the bamboo chips). Timelapse was checked green again.
Waited for the print to finish, and again I cannot access or find any video files.
In Bambu Studio it also just says “Loading file list…” but it never does anything else. The printer just says “Empty” again.
Card is 128GB Patriot SDXC Class 10.
Like I said, there are files being created on there, but nothing seemingly usable except one thumbnail picture.
What can I do to fix this?
I don’t know if it’s only an issue on P1S (my printer) or if X1 has the same issue but the avi files that are recorded are missing the index. If you use VLC, it will just cough about the index missing but if you click “play as is”, it will play the video anyway. I don’t know if other video player might just not play it at all but may be worth a try. If you don’t use VLC already, give it a try and see if the issue is with the player or the printer. If you don’t see the files at all from bambu studio (it does not work on LAN only mode btw), read your SD card on your PC, you should have a timelapse folder with videos there. If not, have you selected “timelapse” in “Others” options in Bamba Studio before slicing (you cannot unselect it in newer versions but depending on your version, it could be unselected if you use a previous version of bambu studio)?
I have only printed two of the pre-sliced models so far. Seems like those would work with time lapse, but maybe not? I have not sliced my own model yet, but plan to do one today.
I can’t imagine you should have to go through all of that to see a video on their own prints? Shouldn’t they just work in the bamboo studios viewer and on the printers screen?
I can only think of two things so far:
- it doesnt like my card for some reason, even though it does format it in the printer and does save files that can only be seen when the card is put in my computer (but wont play).
- The pre-sliced models loaded in the printer wont do timelapse, even though the green box is checked.
VLC will not play the MP4 file that is saved in the ipcam folder. There is no file in the timelapse folder (there was the first print, but it wouldn’t work and I reformatted again so lost it)
Mp4 should be able to be read by VLC but I cannot check as they’re saved as avi on P1S not mp4. It might well be that the original files are not set as timelapse ready. Try to download a very simple file from makerworld or printables and slice it in bambu studio while selecting timelapse when sending it to the printer. Btw, are you using the cloud or LAN only mode. You can only see the SD Card in Bambu Studio in cloud mode, it’s not supported in LAN only mode (you can access it through FTP though if you have filezilla or other software installed).
Edit: I’ve just printed the benchy, no timelapse (but I did not complete it and stopped it as I had ABS loaded not PLA, hope this did not change the outcome) but full video was recorded in ipcam folder (avi file in my case)
I am only wireless at this point. So I assume “cloud”. I said yes to all the unsafe spy capable stuff LOL.
My benchy seemed to record a full video also. But I couldn’t find anything that would play it.
I will try a time lapse on a self sliced print at some point, but I am learning to calibrate my non Bambu filaments right now, so its busy printing.
Making a time lapse from a sliced part does not seem to work either. It basically does the same thing. I further tested the SD card. I can even put a print file on there and then read it in the X1C,
I did notice that when I took the SD card from the printer to the computer to see what is on there, Win 11 tells me it needs repaired. I let it do that and it all still works the same. I can move print files and it certainly saves some files during the printing process, but nothing useable. How annoying.
I think the culprit might me the SD card itself, try a brand name high speed SD card to test. Rather than moving the SD card from printer to PC and back, install an FTP software on your PC like filezilla to access it remotely, it’s very easy to do: host: the IP adress of your printer, user bblp, password: the code generated by your printer, encryption: implicit FTP over TLS
I ordered another one already. Find out in a couple days.
having the same problem here, new printer, did you get it sorted ?
Is there a solution to this? Every single timelapse from my P1S, VLC is telling me it’s missing index.
I assume this is a bug and not some issues with my printer?
I would suggest trying a different sd card.
Yes, it seems to be a bug. I’ve got the same problem. You can “Convert” most of the Videos with VLC.
But with short ones, I have no luck. VLC cannot convert them. The end product is just a 680kb file, but could not be played.
