Timelapse videos with SD cards > 32 GB

Hi all,

I have a problem creating time-lapse videos. When I want to create traditional time-lapse videos and select that via Bambi Studio when printing, no video is saved to the SD card. When I set Smoothen videos, it worked fine. Another thing I’ve noticed is that after printing with a traditional timelapse shot that I’m trying to access via the Studio, the printer likes to crash or the touch display freezes. I use a 64 GB SD card from SanDisk, which I had formatted via the X1.

I am already in contact with Bambu Lab but my guess is, that they are busy with other tasks.

Furthermore I found a workaround. When I use a 32 GB SD card instead of my 64 GB card it fully works. Nevertheless their manual mentioned that SD cards (FAT32 format) works up to 2TB.

Do you have similar expiriences?

Did you let the printer format the card? I have read a few threads where people fixed random sd card issues doing the formatting directly on the printer instead of from a computer.

Yes I did. It is recommended from Bambu on their Wiki as well.

Can you share the brand-model-specs of your 32 gb card? (I couldn’t record time lapse with the card I have)

I can confirm that SanDisk 64GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I memory cards work fine with the X1 Carbon. I’ve recorded several time lapse videos to the sdcard and have not had issues. By timelapse I’m talking about clicking the checkbox Timelapse in the popup that appears after clicking Print Plate in Bambu Labs Studio. I’m not sure what you’re referring to when you talk of “traditional” timelapse vs Smoothen videos?

In the “Other” tab…

Ahh ok, I’ve never noticed that option before. I checked mine and it’s set to traditional.

I’ve only had my X1 for a few days so the only two things I can think of currently would be to update firmware if not on the latest, and if you have an SD card reader trying reading and writing data to the SD card from a computer.
