Tip of hot end fallen off - advice please

Hi All,

I have been getting brittle / really bad prints on and off all day. I thought I had a bad roll of filament that was causing intermittent blocks in the hot end. However, whilst cleaning the hot end just now with the needle tool. The tip of the hot end fell off. I removed the silicone sock to have a look and both pictures are attached.

Is this an easy fix or should I just fit a new part?

Thanks for any advice.
Josh

I didn’t even know this was possible. About a solution, you can either replace the “hotend with nozzle” or “complete hotend” but I don’t think there is any way to fix it.

Hi

Thanks. I have a spare 0.4 nozzle just without the fan. I assume I can just fit that. I won’t try and fix the part that has fallen off back in😳

Ohh, you can definitely to that. Just move the fan, heater and thermistor over and you’ll be back up and running in no time.

Go for a new one and drop the old one in the bin. The later is history.

thanks all. will fit the new one today. Surprised how brassy it looks, I have another X1C and it looks much more a silver colour and it has about the same print hours.

Thanks

Josh

Have now replaced the hot end and now printing a benchy. So far so good. This is what the old one looked like when I removed it. You can see the nozzle just dropped out!

That is crazy! I thought those were a solid piece of metal.

Just curious if you print any exotic materials? Or just PLA and PETG?

Take those pics and put in a ticket to BL. It happened a bit awhile back, and it’s a defective part.

BL should replace it for you. Be sure to include those pics or you’ll waste time having to go back and forth more than you will already.

Hi

99% PLA and 1% PETG is all it has been used for.
