I recently bought the hardened steel extruder and full hotend for my P1S. I thought the installation went fine, but when I tried a test print, the hotend fan won’t spin. The cables are in the cable channel so they don’t hit the fan, and the five plugs are plugged in securely.
Thank you for posting such a clear photo; it’s a huge help.
After zooming in, I can see the row of pins on the connector directly below the fan connector is slightly exposed. This suggests that the connector below the fan connector is misaligned by one row of pins—a very common and easy mistake. Consequently, the fan connector above it is also likely offset, as it wouldn’t otherwise fit properly. Carefully re-seat both connectors, ensuring they align with the correct rows.
Once that’s done, test the alignment by going to the front panel and manually turning on the part cooling fan. You should see immediate confirmation on the visual panel and hear the fan running at full speed.
Good luck and please us know if this helped.
Yup, that was it - thought I checked it before but not well enough apparently!
