I noticed the loud knocking sound the printer is making after it lays down the first layer and heads to the poop chute to clean the nozzle. After popping the glass lid off I saw that what is happening is the tool head is moving behind the top of the chute lever and as the head moves forward it pulls the lever forward causing it to flick and made the loud banging sound as it hits the chute flapper.
is this normal behavior or is something out of adjustment?
Hello feedback,
Think this is completely normal, or at least I can say it happens to me as well.
Not on every nozzle wipe, but sometimes.
Ok just making sure cause it’s banking pretty hard. It actually was boggling my mind how it was doing it since I didn’t see the tool head slamming back agains it it was clearly heading towards the middle of the bed so I started thinking there was a pinball machine solenoid inside the thing lol.
Mine has done it since day 1 but either I don’t notice it any more or it’s quieter. I used to be able to tell when a color change was complete by the clank.
I think mine only does it after the first layer goes down.
It does that after it finishes the first layer inspection and reheats the extruder. It will not do this if you turn off first layer inspection – layer 2 will immediately start after layer 1.
That’s probably why I don’t hear it as much these days, I’ve switched to the textured plate which doesn’t seem to support first layer inspection.
