I have a problem about the top most layer but not always. You can see the two photos. First with red logo everything is fine. But in the second with yellow letters it seems like the yellow color has edges or points around it. I’m using ironing in top layer. PLA is eSUN PLA+
Turn on ironing for the top layer if it’s not already, I’m sure there is more to tune but you provided nothing but photos of the print and not the settings you used
@sam230178 Been working on my top layers for quite a while trying to get them smoothed out. Finally have them looking pretty good.
Here’s what I’m doing:
Line Width Top Surface: 0.3
Only 1 wall on Top Surface
Ironing:
Ironing Speed: 70
Ironing Flow: 25
Ironing line spacing: 0.2
These settings have given me the best results to date (P1S).
Check also your flow settings , not sure because of the ironing but it looks a bit under/over extrusion
I am having a good results with 5 to 6 top Layers no ironing, a bit slower also with 100% infill then does not matter so much the top layers @broe01 thanks i never had a good result with ironing on X1C will try your settings
@vladimir.minkov I’m not a fan of ironing either, but I needed a very smooth top surface for some of my products. Ironing has its quirks, and can add a lot of print time. By increasing the speed, width, and flow rate I’ve gotten some excellent results and at a reasonable rate (time). This is for PLA, I have no real experience with other filaments. Let me know how they work for you.
Hello. I found this thread because I’ve been researching how to improve my top layers. The one on the left has no ironing. The one on the right used ironing with your settings. It’s significantly better. But there are still the horizontal bands. Can I do any more to improve it?
When I print a flat swatch the surface is silky smooth. But if I print anything with nubs or holes I get these weird lines. I’m not sure if my expectations are too high or if there’s more tweaking to be done.
I did the flow calibration, temp tower and pressure advance for this filament, which is Hatchbox PLA.
@MitchNC I get the same issue when I have anything on a flat surface. It seems that whenever the print distance is short, I get this same effect. Maybe someone with more experience with Bambu can chime in.
umm…You sir disserve a medal ! Much like everybody else who’s having issues with ironing I end up at this post as it’s promoted by Google. You Sir, deserve to be promoted yourself .Thank God I tried what you suggested check this out…Both of these items use top most ironing …I hope I don’t have to point out which is the default vs your setting . ( I also ran a flow calibration right before , but changed nothing as the software froze and I couldn’t make a final choice …??)
!
My experience too - anything between holes can look pretty bad. It’s passable with PLA, but with PETG-CF it is worse.
Maybe it has to iron at a different speed between the holes in order to slow down enough to not overrun the hole and this makes it look different? I am going to try slowing ironing down to see what difference that makes. Also maybe concentric pattern would be worth a try too.
