- The ability to specify multiple top surfaces (available in cura).
- Specify line direction for top surface (without having to change line direction for infill)
- Specify ironing on a specific layer (instead of very top surface or all top surfaces)
Throw those ideas at the Prusa development group too. Since Bambu’s slicer is based on it, you might have a better chance of seeing it implemented by the Prusa Slicer developers first.
Bambu better line up some programmers. From some statements by Josef Prusa, they may reconsider the open source model to an extent. If so, I can see a 2 level slicer in the future. An open source slicer for everyone and a pay for version with extra stuff that is proprietary. Basically similar to the Lychee, Chitubox, Cura model.
I just wish people would quit looking at subscription models. That can add up pretty quick and become unaffordable, to anyone other than large companies, when dealing with multiple annual subscriptions.
I would like to expand on suggestion #1 — the ability to specify multiple top surface layers.
I think it would be very useful if Bambu Studio allowed us to select, for example, the last 2 or 3 solid layers and print all of them using the Top Surface quality settings (speed, acceleration, line width, etc.), instead of applying these settings only to the final visible layer.
Ideally, the direction could alternate between these layers, for example:
Layer -2: 0°
Layer -1: 90°
Top layer: 0°
The quality of the final top surface depends heavily on the layers directly underneath it. Printing the last few layers with Top Surface settings could create a much more uniform foundation and improve the final surface quality, especially on large flat surfaces, without needing ironing.
This is different from simply increasing Top Shell Layers — the idea is to allow several of the final layers to actually use the Top Surface printing parameters.
I would really like to see this option added to Bambu Studio.
