Top top layer poor quality, but other top layers fine?

Hi all,

I am getting a weird problem, Ive dialled in Flow rate and pressure advance, and most of my top layers are great, except the very top layer. Anything I am missing? I have ironing off, that was my first thought. Ive been calibrating and calibrating and now I think I am just a bit stuck. Help appreciated.

Sure you properly calibrated the nozzle temp and flow ratio ?

Apart from that the bad top is smaller, having a different layer time.
heck the preview for that and if you use the cooling down features also check on the fan speeds.

Hi @user_3026326371 good point. I checked the layer time preview, and there is a really high layer time, only for that top layer:

Fan speed seems uniform with the exception of the initial layer.

I can’t find a setting that reduces or increases this final layer time, any thoughts?

Darren

Regarding any distinction between “top layers” and “topmost layer”, aside from ironing, I’m only familiar with an object adjustment under Quality-Advanced, which is “Only one wall on top surfaces” which toggles between top surfaces and topmost surface.

Also, is the difference possibly a difference between a top layer that is being printed over solid shell layers and a top layer that has infill beneath it?
