TPU 85A / 90A with PLA or PETG

I’m using the Carbon X1. I know I can’t use PLA together with PETG unless I’m using one material as support for the other. But after reading about Bambu’s new TPU filaments I’m wondering if the 85A or 90A will adhere to either their PLA or PETG filaments using the AMS?

In general, TPU is said to adhere better to PETG than PLA.
I found the findings on multi-material tensile strength quite interesting.

Thanks for the input I’ll check it out. But I’m still wanting to know if the new TPU 85A or 90A could be used together on my X1 through the AMS? BambuLab’s information seams to say I’d need their H2D printer. In their information concerning their new TPU 90A it says, "Bambu TPU 90A seamlessly prints with PLA and PETG through beam interlocking in dual-nozzle printers like Bambu Lab H2D."*

I’m not sure what “beam interlocking” is but I was wondering if anyone has tried printing the two filaments using an X1 with the AMS?

95A, 90A and 85A do “not” fare well in an AMS. 95A works from an X1’s rear spool but for 90A and 85A, feeding from the top is recommended.

Beam interlocking is a bit of a buzz in my personal opinion. Z-Tension and (critically) Peel and z-Impact are only mildly improved. In-layer shear would be improved quite a bit, as would in plane tension. But those are not FDM’s weak spots.
In many cases PETG-TPU bond performance should be sufficient.

The one piece you are still missing is the ability for the X1 to print nulti-spool from an external spool. It is part of the current Beta.

I have a Carbon X1C and was hoping to use the new AMS HT to run 85A TPU alongside the AMS to run a multi-material print - TPU and PETG ideally. You have to run TPU 85A out the back port of the AMS HT and so I can’t get both materials to load through the AMS Hub because the AMS HT won’t actually run with TPU 85A through the usual loading method. Did you have any luck running two external spools? Trying to find a way to make this work with the machine I have instead of buying a new H2D.
