TPU 85A (Extrudr Flex Semisoft) stringing - but not always

There is stringing on my model printed with Extrudr Flex Semisoft filament, using the filament profile provided by Extrudr. The retraction length is set to 0.6 mm. The filament has been dried and I print directly out of a filament dryer.

I then printed the retraction calibration model from the Bambu Studio “Calibration” menu with the same filament profile and a range from 0 mm to 1 mm. To my surprise, there is no stringing at all:

Both prints were made right one after the other. I know that people will say “Dry your filament”, but I specifically want to understand why there is no stringing on the retraction test model and stringing on the real model. Any ideas?

The best approach would be to compare the sliced previews - the speeds and temperatures in particular are of interest.

It could also be the retract behavior is just different because of the larger gap between the two vertical columns. If it’s a larger distance there will be retract to avoid blobbing, I’m thinking in the Y-test it’s just not bothering.

It would be interesting if the Y-test continued further onward until the gap exceeded that of the parallel column test.

Thank you for your input!

The Y-model is printing at 33 mm/s and the retraction test at 10 mm/s. The temperatures (nozzle / bed) are identical.

I will print a larger Y shape and see what happens at larger distances.
