hi, so i just got the tpu feed assist and it looks like its working oddly for me. I followed all the instructions and it loads the filament fine but i dont feel like the feed assist is working. I put it on the lowest pressure speed(slowest led blinking speed when using the 2 buttons) and its just making this weird noise when the filament hits the extruder which doesnt feel normal. what am i doing wrong? IM not understanding how to use this thing… btw video uses tpu 85a from bambu
in the video i was just trying to load the nozzle but i didnt actually print with it because im not sure i follow the flow of how to use it. I pressed the load button and the filament was taken in fine but once it hit the nozzle that noise started. Is it supposed to stop the noise when printing? im just not understanding the usage flow of this thing so if someone could explain that would be appreciated(like when to press the button, when am i supposed to turn it off etc…)
(see video in link) make sure to toggle the audio on
Nothing weird, the point of this module is to help reduce the tension pulling from your AMS HT or holder with TPU. So the feed the consistent between TPU assist and the extruder. Did you try to print something so far?
well for example i tried the doing the calibration. according to the instructions it says to use a filament like pla or petg thats about one meter in length and after its done the light would stop flashing. i cut filament longer than that and the light never stopped flashing. i tried making it go all the way to the extruder and it makes that noise again like its trying to ram the filament when it can obviously not keep going vs feed assisting. Im confused as to how to use this thing
I had the same. Weird noise and could not calibrate. Opened a support ticket and got a new one which works fine. According to support the TPU Feed Assist Module should synchronize with the head filament sensor. So when you see on your screen that filament is loaded (green symbol), the motor should stop and only restart when needed. To get faster through support I would suggest making a new video also showing on the screen that filament is recognized and loaded.
They asked me for a video with the following content: Start calibration, feed filament and how it reaches the extruder, show screen with extruder menu, show Module again (which was still making noise and had blinking led).
Since you’re using an alternate enclosure, are you sure it’s built properly. Have you tried with the bambu one?
It may be that the module does not react to the pressure of the feeding at the output. Nothing in that enclosure that prevents proper switching? Take a look, there’s a small metal plate that can move and a magnet. Is the magnet still there?
How fast have y’all got TPU up to using this? I have an H2D with a TPU high flow 0.4mm Nozzle and the feed assist using quality 95A TPU. I tried 10mm^3/s and get extrusion resistance errors with the assist speed all the way up. I was printing successfully at 5mm^3/s before adding the high flow nozzle and feed assist.
Is your speed number referring to max volumetric speed or some other speed setting?
Mine is 12mm^3/s for TPU 95A with default 0.4mm nozzle (using left nozzle). I do not own the feed assist tpu thing and use an external spool mounted on the wall with around 4ft of PTFE to the print head. No errors. Prints very nicely.
@flyaway I had the exact same problem as you. That could have been my video. I took the cover off and noticed the two screws holding part of the hall sensor. I loosened them up just a touch…like a skosh. It calibrated and works fine now.
It seems to me that its a bit to rigid and would not flex to trigger the hall sensor.
