TPU for AMS spool doesn't fit in AMS?

Hi

Only just got to use this spool - fresh out the packaging but it’s too wide for the AMS Pro 2? You can see the difference compare to a standard spool. I can’t see the spool is warped in anyway and doesn’t appear to have come apart?
Any suggestions welcome!

I would check to see if the spool holder is installed correctly! I had a spool of “TPU for AMS” come apart in my AMS once. What a mess.

One side fell off. It obviously was not installed correctly. So definitely double check yours before you use it.

They come apart twisting them, I would guess it was not assembled correctly? carefully twist it counter clock wise and then put a lot of weight on top and twist it back to lock :stuck_out_tongue:

I recommend printing these tabs and inserting them into your BL spools, I have 1 in every spool.

Thanks - I have checked and can’t see it’s come apart at all. I literally took it out of the sealed new bag yesterday and put it straight in AMS. But will double check very bizarre.

Can you share a photo of the two in profile.

The aim is to see the filament sandwiched between the two sides.

Also one inside the central hole so we can see the locking mechanism, where the plug (smaller part) is closer to the camera and the socket (the bigger part) is further away.

The aim is to see if there is any obvious unlocking, unlikely, but let’s rule it out,

Unfortunately, stiff happens. I have had them arrive unlocked. Not many, but it can happen.

Can you check the spool for bulging? I know TPU absorbs a lot of moisture, I don’t know if the moisture would have an effect on the filament thickness, but if it does, your TPU may be bulging and flexing the spool. Just a [bad] theory.

Thanks I’ve checked. It’s definitely locked but it’s bulging out the sides (flared).The spool although unopened was bought 18 months ago. I’ve dried it thoroughly but I can’t see how to sort this without respooling it. I’ll try and get another pic when get back.

Just an update - Bambu are sending me another spool :slight_smile:.

Now print a spooler; you’ll want it sooner or later anyway.

Lol - I have already printed a drill attachment to respool - but been running the swollen spool in the A1 Mini - works perfectly!
