I was planning to try a TPU print. I had a reel from Creality so I loaded it in. It fed through just fine but the AMS says it will work with Generic TPU ? So I tried to unload it but I push on the release the Filament and it won’t let it go?
- Any suggestions how to unload it?
- Any suggestions on how to convince my H2D w/AMS2 to use it ?
Thanks in advance.
Assuming you are referring to TPU 95A, no, this does NOT go in the AMS.
Some people have got this to work, but they knew the risks ahead of time.
Bambu Lab do not say TPU can go in the AMS; they do sell a "TPU for AMS’, specifically for the AMS. That works because it is harder and can get through the mechanism.
Have you tried the unload feature of the Device Tab in Bambu Studio?
Have you tried the unload option on the LCD screen on the printer? I have not used an H2D, but I imagine the option is available there as it is for all the other printers.
You may need to apply some gentle pressure to pull it back. You will need to press the tab down on the AMS inlet hole you poked it through to allow it to come back.
If these fail, how to unload it depends on how far it is in the printer.
If it made it to the head, you may need to cut it there, pull it back through the AMS. Then push the other filament into the head, trying to get rid of whatever is in the head.
It may be stuck along the path of the AMS to the head. If this is the case, you may need to disassemble part of the AMS to gain access to it.
Working out exactly where it is stuck, or if a portion broke off, is the key to the fix.
The H2 series has a dedicated port for TPU 95A on the back; you should be using this.
Its most likely wrapped around the stepper motor gears inside the AMS. Power off the AMS (disconnect the cable) and try to pull out the filament. If that fails and it rips, you will need to disassemble the AMS and PTFE tubes to get the left over strands out.
Oh this sounds like fun!!! I appreciate the guidance!!!

Who doesn’t like learning everything you have not wanted to know about how something works right when all you wish to do is print something and enjoy the printer.

So true. I thought I learned everything when I built my Voron 2.5… apparently not ! This will be a Friday night with Bourbon job. So the pictures may start clear and fade !

Bambu wiki has many useful and helpful pages with instructions. Lots of pics and often videos. You’ll get it sorted no problem.
It’s got me through some issues already without problem.
