Tracking Filament

Hello all,

I finally got off the pot and my X1C and AMS 2 is on the way. Now it is possible that I should have asked this question in the AMS threads and I apologize if that is the case.

Along with my printer I ordered some replacement parts and about 10 spools of filament. As I understand it if I bought a Bambu spool when I load it into AMS it will know the type, color and amount. So let’s assume I add White PLA and print some spools, and then I remove that spool with half of it gone. When I add that spool back will it know how much filament remains, like is the knowledge specific to that spoil? Or will it now assume it has a full spool of white and I have to watch it to make sure I have enough left?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but it does this by measuring the rotation rate of the spools, it doesn’t store this information anywhere online. The AMS might have a cache of RFID tags to amount used so when you put it back in it has the right amount, but the RFID tag is not written to.
