Transparent PLA Gets Stuck Every Time

Hi,
I’ve been printing successfully with Tecbears Transparent PLA in my X1C. It’s been printing translucent but not transparent. I do realize that I’ll never get complete transparency but I wanted to try to improve it as much as I can.

Some Googling around brought me to this page: Printing tips for transparent PLA/PETG | Bambu Lab Wiki where I downloaded: pla_-transparent_parameters-_0.4_mm_nozzle.3mf at the bottom of the page.

Every time I try to print using that profile I get a hotend clog that requires a cold pull to remove. Every single time.

I’m really new at 3D printing so I could really use some help getting this corrected.

I have several spools of it and think it is decent.

I have had clear translucent PLA for a couple of years, not from BL, which is also good.

I have used the already installed profiles in Bambu Studio; you do not need any others.

• Select the cog (bottom right).
  

  

• Tick the Bambu PLA Translucent
  

  

• Save Bambu Studio

• Close

• Restart Bambu Studio

This saves the choice for new sessions.

• Select Bambu PLA Translucent for your filament.

This works for me every time.

More specifically, how is the transparency? Using the regular Basic PLA setting got me translucent, but I was hoping for better transparency.

What I have always read (and you may have read the same seeng as you found the same guide) is that for the best transparent results it has to be printed using a big nozzle like .8 and slow. Every guide I have read mentioned those things which rules out my needs. I print miniatures.

Here’s my translucent pla and petg examples. Miniature 1/12 scale bottles with translucent outside and glow pla inside. I use mostly Bambu but I did recently try a Ziro caramel translucent filament that was really nice. That example is in 2 bottles on the shelf one on the top with a w that says Woody’s Wine.

You are welcome.

• Use less walls
• Less infill %
• Use Aligned Rectilinear for surfaces
• Use a smooth build plate

The translucency isn’t bad.

Use my test model for settings tweaks.

Made before BL PLA Translucent was available, but the logic is the same.

That sounds like heat creep. Be sure door is open and/ or top is off.

The one on the left was printed (previously) using standard PLA settings on the textured plate. The one on right was printed using the Translucent PLA setting you told me about, on the smooth plate.

I clearly have more to learn.
