I guess the reporting worked! My design is removed as an entry. Haha no worries I’m not mad. I’ve never won anyways.
Hi, I see that the fidget keyring has been taken down. I did report as I also don’t see it as a travel accessory & I got a successful notification.
When I reported as irrelevant I did make a small argument that fidget toys/keyrings are not travel related & that by allowing one to remain means that all & fidget toys should be allowed to enter the contest.
Whether this played a role in it being removed or not I don’t know.
I get the allure of entering contests but there always seems to much silly entries that it doesn’t feel worth the time of desiging, printing & uploading to just have it get buried by hueforges & AI waste.
Contests are great way to raise exposure for your stuff - design something matching theme that you’d use yourself anyway and you lose nothing yet have possibility to gain a bit. That’s also a way to avoid hueforges and “ai waste” because both are afaik mostly prohibited from entering contests due to rules and get nuked as “irrelevant” even if entered.
This seems to happen every contest. Bambu sets rules/guidelines but doesn’t manually gatekeep. Users abuse and push limits. Other users complain and report, and we get a thread or more per contest on all the inappropriate models submitted.
Rinse. Wring. Repeat.
It won’t end until Bambu starts actually vetting the entries and rejecting the junk before it ever shows up on a contest page. Because of the delays in getting the junk removed, the junk posters will just continue to do it because they get exposure and downloads.
Bambu is who has to stop this cycle. All we can do is pester Bambu and annoy them into enforcing the rules and that hasn’t been effective yet.
Maybe the answer is to let nature run its course? Don’t report anything and let Bambu police their own contests/models. We’re providing free labor and that free labor gives Bambu an excuse to continue with the status quo. Without people reporting, Bambu either has to police the contests themselves or let them turn into the junk pile those who can’t follow directions seem to want.
Amen brother!
(25 bla bla bla)
It’s out of the contest. I received the system report earlier.
It’s nice to know the favoured aren’t always immune.
If only that was applied also for things outside the contests… what a wonderful platform we would have
Some other repositories not only remove but also put in a point deduction, which I think would be a good idea to reduce this, it would need to be a significant reduction though like 200 points or something like that
Firm raps on the knuckles get peoples’ attention. I wholeheartedly support penalties for obvious attempts to cheat. But that puts more onus on Bambu to clearly define what fits or doesn’t in a contest or even the general repository.
You guys have not yet checked the masks contest… yesterday there was a lemon juice maker there
I tried wearing it as a mask but got brain juice instead
There is a penalty, nit as big as you desire though.
From the contest rules.
- Models identified as irrelevant to the contest theme will be removed from the contest page and result in a 100 point deduction.
I wonder if this is actually ever distributed though. Most likely they don’t remove points unless it’s something someone is doing often.
ah ok i never noticed that, good to know, wonder if it’s actually enforced
in order to clean it up, i’d definitely go even harsher, that way makerworld wouldn’t need really to monitor all that much, as you wouldn’t want to submit something irrevelevant if it meant a big hit
I received the same message for my keychain in the same contest (model 743863)
The idea of this keychain is to have it with you when you are on travel with scouts.
I know that with the lots of entries in the contest I have literally no chance to win, but at least we (small modest creators) gain a little visibility.
Now my model is lost in the abbyss…
When I see all the real irrelevant entries, I seems it is unfair…
Report ones that you see that are actually irrelevant entries. As you can see here (welcome to the forum btw), the reports do matter so irrelevant stuff does get taken out and makes room for actually relevant.
As for getting your model removed - I know that sucks, but not is lost, it’s a unique model in a tiny niche and people looking for it will find it. Cool little thing I’d say.
On the flip side - your toothpick can does fit the contest theme better and is less of a niche item, so it’s better for visibility and won’t get kicked out. Maybe try designing a version for longer toothpicks and add that as another print profile? I’m sure people would find it useful.
Don’t get discouraged by this little setback, keep designing, keep trying, there’s always a next time
Yeah, I think it’s something for the actual traveling action and that can, in some way, only be used for traveling.
