Trying to use external spool instead of AMS lite

Since I’ve updated to Bambu Studio from v2.0.1.50 to v2.0.2.57, my A1 mini is unable to use the AMS lite.
The software and the printer can see the AMS lite and I can load filament on it but every time I try to print a multi colour print with the latest update, Bambu Studio tells the printer to use the external spool which is empty.
The only way that I’ve found to print using the AMS lite id to use the Bambu Handy app.

I did try:

  • switch OFF/ON the printer
  • unplug the AMS lite
  • restart the Bambu Studio software
  • downgrading Bambu Studio (unsuccessful)

None of these made a difference.

I’m using:

  • Mac M2 pro with MacOS 15.4.1
  • Bambu Studio v2.0.2.57
  • Bambu handy v3.0.3 (Android)

Screenshot of Bambu Studio before sending to the printer:

Error received

Error code: [0300-8015 184818]

There used to be a check box to say “use AMS lite” but this is now gone.
Is there anything else that I can try or do?

On the printer using the screen, try to purge/load one of he filaments from the AMS Lite. This should remove it from the spool.

@lion7718 thank you for your idea but sadly there isn’t an option once the error shows up :frowning:

This is only happening when I’m sending the file from my laptop.
If I use the mobile phone, no problem.

I need to try to print through the sd card and see if this is an option.

Ideally I would like to send the files wirelessly instead of manually.

Hmm, I’m having this issue as well.

Looks like saving as gcode and printing via the sd card works fine, like you say.

Oh forgot to say I have an A1 which it is happening on, and Windows is what I’m running bambu studio on.

@filharvey thank you for for confirming that we can use the sd card.
I haven’t had the chance to try it yet.

Also nice to know that this also an issue on Windows and A1 :+1:

Hello my A1 printer is also experiencing the same problem with AMS Lite.

Windows 11.
Bambu Studio.

I’ve finally tried to print through the sd card and this is working fine, so there must something wrong when sending from Bambu Studio.

I am experiencing the same problem. I use an A1 with AMS lite and use Windows 10.
Tried everything, even connected the AMS lite to another A1 printer which results in the same problem. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is to connect my other AMS since it’s in the office.
I hope to get there at the end of this week and then take it with me to try. I will post my findings here.

Just got an update for Bambu Studio and the problem has been solved.

What version of Bambu Studio fixed this for you? I had to downgrade back below 2.x to me able to use the AMS lite I added to my A1 (windows 11).

I got version 2.0.3.54 now and the problem is gone.

@Freelance_Computers thank you for letting us know, this is good news.
I will have a go this weekend

I can also confirm the problem is now gone by installing the newer version which is 2.0.3.54
