Two color project

Suppose I have a disk that’s 3" in diameter of black PETG. Adjacent to it is a a disk of clear PETG with an ID of 3" and an OD of 4". Adjacent to that is a final disk of black with an ID of 4".

Can this be printed with just two color changes? What would be the procedure?

You could try and see if sequential printing would work. Not sure where it is in the slicer need to look.

Thanks for the tip! I learned about printing by object. It COULD work, but in my example, there’s no way to align the close fitting shapes so perfectly that they don’t overlap, and the slicer refuses to print them. I suppose I could print them separately and glue them up, but that’s a shame and a bother

Then you have filament changes.
If the materials do not join together, it would actually be better to divide the model into the parts you mentioned and add connectors to the parts. Then you could put the parts together after printing.

If you print the parts serial, they must be far apart so that the print head has enough space and does not knock over any part. Then use the automatic arrangement on the print bed. I think this works best.

I was making my project WAY too complicated. There’s no need to print concentric disks. I can just make two disks a little thicker and overprint the other color. I would not have bothered to reveal my stupidity except that it might help someone else.
