Two things I'd like to select in "Prepare" in Bambu Studio

I have three X1 printers. There are two things I’d like to be able to select when preparing a job in Bambu Studio:

  1. Sport Mode. At present I can only set this on the printer directly.
  2. Which printer to use, in the Prepare screen. At present I can only change it once I’ve already sliced and beginning to setup for printing.

These are two obvious omissions that I’d like to see get fixed.

Support mode is more of a gimmick than a useful feature. All it does is change the speeds across the board to 125% of normal. If you want to print at that speed then just change the speed settings in the standard profile you are using and then save it with a new name. You can then use it anytime you want. You can also adjust it when it does not work for models with overhangs, etc.

Regarding selecting the printer in prepare, I do not understand why you would want that. I want to slice for a type of printer and decide which one to send it to based on which printer is available at that time.

Not be argumentative, but I still want both of those things.

  1. Changing EVERY speed aspect in the settings (and not missing one) to re-engineer Sport mode is a waste of time. If Bambu knows how to do it in one click, then they should make it available at the slicer level rather than making us figure it out.
  2. In the Prepare screen you are selecting filaments, but with no notion of what’s actually in the specific printer you want to use. You don’t find this out until you have already sliced and moved on to the printing process. Again, it would a trivial matter for Bambu to make printer selection at the Prepare level, thus eliminating the need to guess and repeat.

If you’re totally happy, great. I’m not.

You can change to sport mode under the device tab of slicer.

Perhaps Silent mode would be a better example then. Either way, there isn’t any easy way to set and remember that speed.

Each to his own.

I am curious about your use of sport mode. Do you have problems with the first layer when you use sport mode? (I have only changed to sport mode after the first layer was complete.)

I agree that the way settings and profiles work, and especially how one chooses printers and changes print time settings could be better.

For example, I currently have to have multiple printer profiles for the same nozzle because only calibration is a print time setting, and I have a fast start profile for when I have already done a print with the same filament that doesn’t run through all of the wiping and such. I would much prefer to make that choice when sending the print job and not have to re-slice to change how the printer prepares to print.

Imma necropost the heck out of this because I STILL cannot see a solution.

I NEED to be able to pick between which printer - not printer profile, like physical networked printer - on the prepare page. I have two x1c’s each with a separate AMS and studio only wants to select my first one. If anyone has found a solution to this please let me know.

Go to the “Devices” page and select the printer you want to use next. Then when you go back to “Prepare”, you’ll want to re-synchronize the filaments. I’m not defending it, I find the whole thing pretty goofy, but it does work.
