Yay for all the people who got their printers 145% tariffed I guess! ![]()

At issue will be whether the “importer” will pass the refund to the customer. Otherwise, the individual customers are left with an empty wallet. I didn’t see anything that mandated a customer refund. ![]()
In the case of Bambu Lab, that isn’t going to be a thing. The tariffs were not a simple percentage added to the price, nor did Bambu Lab necessarily pass all of the tariffs onto the consumer.
But I am expecting a refund from Digikey.
There is no doubt Bambu Lab will apply for a refund, whether they will consider it a windfall or kick some of it back is the open question.
Dear customer,
Thanks for contacting Bambu Lab Customer Support!
We fully understand how you feel and truly wish we could assist with this.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund or store credit regarding the tariff matter.
We appreciate your understanding and support very much.
Best regards,
Bambu Lab Customer Support
In other words, importing companies might get a refund, but the average Jane and Joe (individual end consumer) will not. That’s my take on this matter. Hope I’m proven wrong, but somehow I doubt it.
I bought printer at much higher prices too. This seems unfair.
You agreed to purchase your printer at that price, which at the time you deemed to be acceptable. Now the price goes down and you complain of not being fair? To whom? To you? How is that unfair?
Ha! To everyone. I agreed to purchase the printer at price given the fact that tariffs will be around and that the companies were passing on the cost to consumer.
My “unfair” comment came from the fact that many companies are/will apply for refund and will not pass that on to consumers.
Some have swallowed the tariff some have passed part of it to customers some have passed all of it, some have done all of the above depending on the item and the individual margin of each product. Plus, some may have just lost sales because of the higher price, some stock may have had to be discarded so it’s really a commercial decision of each seller to determine if it should pass some refund to the final consumer, I wouldn’t ![]()
At best seller financials would be better after the refund and could live with smaller margins on the next year so the customers may still benefit a little.
Was there ever a time when doing business was fair towards the consumer? (obviously, a rhetoric question, as the answer was, is and will always be: never, ever)
Fair. Though, this helps us get an idea about companies. For e.g. costco is probably working on these refunds etc. And, Nintendo is going to have a lawsuit etc.
Consumers won’t see a dime.
It’s one thing that they’re allowing applications. That’s likely an “appear to be compliant” move, but I expect this is going to see a whole new level of heel dragging. They’re not gonna do it, because it collapses Mango Mussolini’s entire economic agenda.
The only people who will get refunds, if they get them, will be those who paid them directly. I’ve paid for items and had to pay the duties from some supplies, I don’t expect to get them back just a fact of life and it probably isnt worth my time. Not happy about it, but it isnt the end of my world either. None of that stuff has anything to do with 3d Printing though.
If you have a receipt with a tarrif/duty on it, you have a leg to stand on.
Agree, whole heartedly.
It’s a shame. We’ve been paying that tax and yet those that passed it along benefit most.
