Under-extrusion

A reason why I’m starting to have under-extrusion with all my filaments? I changed the nozzle to eliminate the possibility of a partial clog and ran the calibration tests after. The square is one layer height (0.2mm).

I’ve notices a lot of under extrusion on the first layer. I tried unclogging the nozzle, even installed a new nozzle to rule that out. It doesnt matter which filament (Bambu lab matte PLA, Extrudr NX PLA, Prusament PLA, PolyTerra PLA, eSun PLA…)

So weird. Some questions:

Are you running with the stock nozzle (0.4mm) or one of the other sizes?

Is the extruder intact? Do the extruder’s gears look to be in good condition and do they spin freely with no grinding sounds or catching, slipping or hesitation?

Are you using the AMS? If so, is it working correctly as well with no grinding sounds or catching, slipping or hesitation?

I suspect it may be a hang-up somewhere in the filament path above the extruder since you already eliminated that possibility by replacement.

What I tried:

  • Changing the nozzle
  • Changing the extruder
  • Cleaning the rods
  • Tensioning of the belts
  • Tramming of the bed (from the wiki)
  • Multiple filaments, thus multi AMS slots
  • Full recalibration
  • Flow calibration and bed levelling on each print

Replaced the nozzle with a new one, replaced the extruder with a new one. No issues in/with the AMS. And it is only on the first layer.

This looks like the textured plate, which due to how the top of the texture is measured with the nozzle, you’re always always likely to have what looks like first layer underextrusion without a z-offset.

added my 2c on that github thread. Z offset is such a simple request. no idea why it is not already in the filament settings at the very least.

For my picture, it was printed on smooth PEI.

My X1 starts with under extrusion.
Did you manage it?

If youve been printing a lot try a cold pull

I use white PLA because it’s easier to see all of the gunk

Cold pull is super easy

You could try to tram the bed.

Was there any solution? If I set to silent which is slow the print gets fine instantly. You can see exactly where the hair part stops where filament breaks and is pulled up.

Did you ever get this resolved? My printer has suddenly started this and nothing seems to help.
