Unexpected Color Change BS 1.10.1.50

I upgraded from BS 1.9.7.52 on my Mac (OSX Sonoma 14.7) and noticed a change that impacts my workflow.

I import a model that has different parts for each color. In BS, I apply the correct color for each part. Then I select all the parts convert to objects and merge the objects and slice. In 1.9.7.52 this worked, but in 1.10.1.50 as soon as I convert the parts to objects, all the colors revert to the top object’s color. In the release notes for 1.10.1.50 there is a feature to preserve color info when cutting the model. I wonder if resetting the colors is an unintended side-effect of this. I don’t see any way to turn this color preserving feature off.

My work-around so far has been to name each part with the desired color and then apply the color based on the name once the model has been split to objects. Other than the name, once the parts have been split to objects, I can’t easily see which color the object should be as they are all mixed together.

I have always included a way to denote the colour for each part as the merge rarely works as I would have hoped.

I end up dragging the objects up and down the order so they obtain the correct priority.

I must say if this worked for you before, you had better luck than me, I have been manually ordering parts since I started this back in January.
