Universal settings for sending prints

There should be a universal method for sending print jobs to different printers, such as the A1 and the P1.

Currently, after sending files to the A1 for printing, I need to select the P1 and ensure all settings are correct before sending the files to the P1.

Is it possible to have a default setting that allows files to be sent directly to any printer without manually adjusting the settings each time? This way, at the final dialog page, I can choose any printer to print from without encountering an “incompatibility error” if the print profile does not match the printer.

In essence, I am looking for a way to send files to different printers as easily as sending them to printers of the same model, with automatic transfer settings or default configurations working in the background.

Thank you.

Hi @Supergrapher,

I didnt understand your request. I am not trying to downvote your request, but I am suggesting you provide further details as it may not be easy to understand.
What do you mean by checking the settings?
You need to slice the model for each printer, which in Bambu Studio is done by selecting the printer model and pressing slice.
The info sent to the printer has specific instructions on how the different printer’s components should act each time. So, if you want to provide identical instructions to any printer model, I can tell you that would only be possible if the printer specs are equal or the slicing process is carried out within the printer. Maybe there is a middle ground, but it’s likely to cause restrictions or challenges in further developments.

You are right, my writing was convoluted. But you understood my request correctly.

I’m suggesting that there can be a default, selected, or “starred” setting (or whatever you choose to name it). Having such a function can simplify sending files to printers of different models.

For example, when you reach the final dialog box where you choose which printer to print from, if I select the A1, the slicer should be able to…
select the A1 printer,
select the default filament,
select the default print profile,
slice it, and send it to the A1 printer.

Subsequently, if I want to send the same file to a P1s, the slicer should be able to… choose the P1s printer,
choose the default filament,
choose the default print profile,
slice it, and send it to the P1s printer without me having to go back and make the changes myself.

In another words, to change the slicer from “slice” centric to “send” centric.

thanks

I was looking for an answer as well and I found this feature request instead  .

What the slicer does is to compile into machine specific gcode so I don’t think there is a way to have a universal format that can be sent to different machines.

That said, there could be an option/settings for users to chose for which printers to slice and then the slicer could slice for all the profiles/combination that the user setup, so that we don’t see “incompatible” devices in the Multi-device Manager.

Unless there is a better way/workaround.
