I want to add that 3Djake is now putting all of their old 1kg spools on sale. their new spools are compatible with AMS. you just have to pay attention to what spool youre buying
I was able to download this document in both Excel and ODS format, but when I tried to open it under Linux and perform a sort based on Column M it gave me some formula error. Does anyone have any idea what I might need to change so I can port by column M and have all the Yes entries at the top of the document?
I am not good at using the Google Applications as they seem to have similar menues to their Microsoft counterparts but work quite differently in function.
Thanks!
Stuart
Thanks for sharing! I’m new to Bambu so this is very useful. I honestly don’t see myself using a lot of Bambu filament as Sunlu and a few others have worked really well for me. I just have to make sure I set the filament definitions correctly and accurately. I’m not apposed to using Bambu Filament though.
If you tend to use certain colors/types and they print well using stock Bambu settings, label the RFID tags, cut the tags free, and tape them in the proper locations on other spools and you’ve got RFID with them. On the AMS if you only use one tag on a spool it has to go in a slot where it’s next to the RFID reader. They are between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4.
Not a bad idea … I do know I can clone the tags (been in IT for 30 years) but that’s actually a pretty good idea. Just get the colors I like from Bambu and then after using it up, take the tag, toss it in a printed mount/container and boom. I like that.
There are holders for Hatchbox and I believe other filament spools on MakerWorld. I’ve got some Hatchbox and it prints great with the printer thinking it’s Bambu.
You should edit the first post to add a color legend to explain what’s what. It’s kind of obvious what green and red are for, but the yellow doesn’t really mean much without a description. Does the spool sometimes work depending on whether it’s a cardboard roll and might have too much moisture in it, so it’s maybe too big to roll around properly? Does it work but only with a printed adapter?
Not trying to come across negatively at all, this is a great resource, thanks!
Just a note, we put Bambu PLA-CF, PET-CF and PA6-CF into our AMS and they all work perfectly fine. We have excellent moisture control in the AMS due to it being filled with desiccant.
As I type this, it is printing fine in PET-CF.
All of our spools at American Filament are AMS compatible! We made the switch in May of last year and have completely phased out the old noncompatible spools.
The dimensions are:
- Spool Inner Diameter (ID) = 52 mm
- Spool Outer Diameter (OD) = 200 mm
- Spool Width (W) = 67 mm
- Spool Weight = 220 g
Why is your PLA $26 per KG?
Because we use American-made supplies and materials in our products and manufacture in the USA. We also don’t dilute it with inferior materials like some others do. The price drops by $2 when you buy 3 - 9 spools thanks to shipping savings, and we have even better prices when you buy 10+!
Oh, and it’s PLA+, not just standard PLA!
