Since update to 1.7 I’ve plenty of error “Failed to pull out the filament…” when I print from AMS multicolor models.
A simple press on “Retry” sometimes works, sometimes not.
Note that I’ve multi AMS feeder (waiting a second AMS unit soon).
I’ve changed the extruder by a brand new one, same issue.
I’ve changed all the tubes from AMS to print head, same issue.
I’ve made a Factory reset and then full calibration, same issue.
The AMS behavior is very strange, the filament is going back and forth.
Bambu Lab X1C error “Failed to pull out the filament…”
Is someone facing the same issue ?

I have been having the same issue, 2 different AMS units. The spools get super tight and I am unable to pull the filament back at all until I hit retry and manually do it. if i hit retry a couple times it will also start working but, its like its getting hung up in the hub or something.
I’m getting the same issue after 1.7 - occasional AMS retraction issues.
Bambu told me it’s not related to 1.07, but what’s strange is that I revert back to 1.06 and guess what, no more issues.
So after changing all the tubes and checking to make sure everything was cleaned and new. I’m still having the issues. after looking into it a bit more it is not hanging up in the hub, but the cutter is not cutting the filament all the way through. I even tried replacing the cutter. I theorize it has to do with the reduction in the power to the motors causing this issue. I’m gong to try and tighten my belts and if that doesn’t work I’m going to revert back to the old firmware.
For me, at least in my case, I don’t think it’s due to cutter.
Did you watch my video ?
The filament is going back to AMS without any issues, the issue is when the filament arrive at the extruder, for unknown reasons the extruder doesn’t take the filament and send it back to AMS.
I sometimes have this with 1.06, but far far less often, and the big difference is that the AMS send back the filament to extruder, and it always works the second time.
No idea why 1.07 behave differently and causes much more extruder issues and rise error message instead of a retry.
I also have more issues since I changed the buffer from single to multiple inputs since I’ve the wish to add a second AMS anytime soon.

I would still check the cutter, if it gets dull it doesn’t cut evenly and it cause feeding issues.

It seems to be OK on my side, it’s quite new one (less than 100h of print), it looks perfect.
But jut to try, I’ve added two layers of electric tape on top of the lever to give it a little bit more cut depth.
Let see if it improve anything or not.
that’s the exact same thing mine is doing, I haven’t found a solution yet, i took apart the extruder replace the hot end, it is still happening. please let me know if you find a solution
Same problem and I don’t care what Bambu labs says it’s a firmware problem with 2 of my x1c’s and someone else I know has 7 of them doing it.
Hope this latest update actually does fix this.
OTA version 01.07.02.00 (20240112)
Feature Optimizations
- Refine the log system and remove all debug logs that are not necessary for end-users. Thanks to X1plus team’s feedback.
- Enable users to determine whether to export G-code and camera-recorded files when exporting logs from the SD card.
Bugs fixed
- Fixed intermittent AMS retraction failure issue.
I updated to 1.7.2 last night and the issue seems to be resolved for me so far.
My 16 hr color change test print completed successfully when it couldn’t make it an hour with 1.7.0 & 1.7.1.
