[Updated] Analytics missing Boosts in points & are missing totals

[Updated]

It turns out, for reasons unknown, MW purposely leaves out the Boost points in the points breakdown and fails to provide any totals or sub-totals for points.

There is a computer in the mix that could provide the answer rather than asking users to calculate 12 values and 2 multiplications, so why not include that information which should have been required?

[Original]

I have cross-referenced the analytics breakdown of points from Wednesday 16th October to 22nd Tuesday October.

This list shows the percentage of points shown in analytics vs the total derived from the log entries point in the Points > Transactions.

It assumes the transaction log entries are accurate as those are used by MW to convert into money, gift cards or products. Those are 100%, and the analytics values are converted into a percentage of that score.

16th = 56.87%
17th = 68.17%
18th = 72.76%
19th = 61.89%
20th = 57.90%
21st = 52.28%
22nd = 51.50%

If the analytics are 51-72% accurate and different each day, what is going wrong and so often?

A week-long period is sufficient to counteract anomalies in data collection periods and timezone differences.

@MakerWorld @Tanklet any ideas why the Analytics is so wrong?

Anyone?

I’m not sure to understand what those percentages represents.

But the way I understand it is the following.
The points counted in the reward system panel are the the most accurate since they are updated on the fly.
Where as, in the creator center, those stats are updated once per day and they don’t display the current day data yet.

Could the discrepancy be due to boosts, not being counted as “model points”?

I didn’t wish to share my own points values as that isn’t anyone else’s business.

So, I worked out how many points I received based on the figure in the reward system, and divided it by the points total for the day based on the value of the creator center.

The percentage is that answer.

I will calculate the boosts to see if they are a missing element, but, given they are immediately converted into points now and they were included before that occurred, I don’t see that as the issue p, i will check and report back though.

No problem, it’s perfectly understandable.
The boosts will be a little bit harder to calculate precisely. Because of the exclusive program, some boosts will now value 10%-25% more points if their are linked to an exclusive model.

The figures are all in the points system.

I have time as I lay on my literal death bed.

Are you summing and multiply everything correctly? I checked yesterday analytics/transactions and for me they are exactly the same amount.

I sum Regular + Exclusive points (regular and china website) then I multiply regular boost * 12 and exclusive ones * 15 and I sum everything.

That’s kind of confirming my assumption. And I guess they didn’t updated it since the automatic boosts conversion to points is in place.

@Henlor & @michelem

You were correct. The Boosts do not get included in any points summary.

Firstly, the popover that explains this is weirdly nowhere near the actual chart points.

Secondly, WHY ARE THEY NOT INCLUDED?

Thirdly, WHY IS THERE NO TOTAL POINTS PER DAY?

I have a few sayings, this one is most relevant right now…

If only there was a computer in the mix.

It means, seriously, you have a computer and can’t be bothered to use it to compute things.

  • Why provide charts of points and not include all the points?
  • Why give values and no totals?
  • You have to calculate 12 different values and multiply two sub-totals to get to an answer that could have simply been provided!!!

What is with all this pointless and annoying failure to provide basic info?

The more places I see this annoying falling short, the more depressed it makes me. I owned a software company for three decades, there is no way I would cut this many corners.

On the one hand, their system looks full-baked, on the other, I wonder how baked they were!

The total points per day would be nice as typically I’m judging that myself by looking at the charts for points and boosts (and now regular and exclusive…which doubled up the mental math)

Yes, we now only have four separate charts in total.

This makes no sense, analytics is to help you analyse, not do math.

I think it made more sense before when boosts weren’t auto redeemed.

Now they should be included in normal and exclusive points or have some other total for points that includes boosts.

The breakdown is nice to see source trends. But sometimes you just want to see the big picture and the total points chart would help with that.

I want this to remain.

I want this to be added.
