I like the look of it and am curious on what the full list of achievements are.
If anyone at MakerWorld is seeing this, I’d recommend some text changes to improve the grammar in English:
Popular Model: X models more than 5,000 successful prints. → Popular Model: X models with more than 5,000 successful prints.
Maker’s Supply Contributor: X models with Maker’s Supply Model Model Kit achieves 500 successful prints. → Maker’s Supply Contributor: X models with Maker’s Supply Model Model Kit with more than 500 successful prints.
I’m sure there are more updates to MakerWorld, anyone notice any? Just after posting this I saw that they sent out an official notification about the update, nice!
I believe you need to have an official Maker’s Supply Kit to be eligible, I have two models that are past Stage 2 and eligible for a kit but don’t have the badge on my profile. I’ve only seen a handful of new kits since the start of the year so I’m sure the backlog of eligible models is quite large, not sure how they will be handled but one of my models has been eligible for almost four months now
It’s just getting rolled out and they haven’t been over everyone’s profile yet. So maybe you’ll get yours tomorrow or the day after.
You need to upload, download, print, rate, or comment on a particular day rather than just stopping by. Sometimes I just stop by to see if somebody left a comment or not. So if somebody boosted without a comment for example, I’ll just go about my day. Though, when you mouseover, the help text there says nothing about active engagement with the site.
The first one is also interesting… I’m pretty sure I exported 113 models from MakerLab (of course I didn’t upload all of them, if that makes any difference).
That “Pioneer Maker” reminds me a bit of the new Profile Page, when all your makes were shown. In the meantime this has become opt-in by default. I wonder how long it’ll be until people ask for an option to have checkboxes for these “new achievements” to either show or hide them.
Much like I don’t think it’s anybody’s business which models I printed, I’m also not sure I need to share how many hours I’ve been printing MakerWorld models. Ditto for Stellar Reviewer. People will probably show up and spam you, just so your rate or comment on their models.
Anyways, I think all of these should be opt-in by default. It’s one thing to know if somebody is featured or won a contest or that kind of thing (i.e., the established achievements) but I strongly disagree that my personal print statistics (i.e., Pioneer Maker) get shared with the rest of the world.
