sorry to hijack the thread but for some reason I cannot make a post of my own.
Do anyone know how to force update firmware? I see OTA version 01.08.00.00 (20240507) is available for 2 months now and it has not yet applied to my printer.

Welcome to the forum. You should be able to post a thread now.
The printer needs to be connected to the internet to update the firmware. IE no LAN mode.
Power cycling the printer can also help when trying to “encourage” a firmware update.
Thank you.
It’s not actually OTA with it’s own built in connection like a car, but rather via internet connected Wi-Fi access? I’m running the printer offline. Do you know where I can download the firmware and install it normally? I cannot find it anywhere.
You can’t find it because it is not available to download. Let the printer have access to the internet, it will find and install the update from the Bambu server. There is no way to update firmware in LAN-only mode.
okay. Does the printer asks if I want to upgrade or that they have something similar to dual bios in case it is turned off mid firmware upgrade?
It will ask to upgrade and warn to NOT cut the power.
No backup BIOS.
ah, okay. thank you. so I’ve connected the printer to the internet for the first time.
It is a seperate wifi network that has internet access and it has been connected for a few hours now. Nothing has happened yet. I must admit to me this is a very strange way of dealing with firmware updates. Do I just let it sit there not printing until it decides to ask me if I want to upgrade? There is no way of forcing it that I can find.
Have you tried what I suggested?
You can also trigger an update via the Handy app or Bambu Studio if they are paired to your printer via the cloud.
I have rebooted it 4 times using the switch at the back and I am soon done with a piece I had to get done by tomorrow, 2 hour print, then I suppose I will power cycle it again before leaving it on for the night. Apps are not an option for me and neither is pairing bambu studio to the printer as it is only connected to wifi momentarily to recieve updates. I’ll see if it is possible to update the firmware of the printer over a 24hour period.
Nothing has happened so far. Thank you for trying to help. I’ll try to go through the nightmare it is of contacting bambu directly, done it before but they never respond.
If you think I’ve misunderstood anything please let me know. My impression is that the procedure of updating firmware on the device is opening it up to the internet and hoping “something” online discovers it and starts uploading to it.
It seems so unsafe and impractical.
Have you tested the network connection via the display?
You might try Settings → General → Restore Factory Settings
The printer does not simply open itself up and wait for something on the net to discover it. Shortly after being powered up, it queries a Bambu server to see if there is newer firmware available and then installs it if you agree.
Try entering your PIN, it may be hung up with 2FA
I’ve tried factory resetting it and I’ve checked the connection, before letting it sit, but to no avail.
I’m not at all sure what you mean by entering my PIN or even 2FA I’m afraid.
