I have four those too, but they only go up to 70c. Engineering filaments need 85c which this latest dryer can do. 70c would work too, just take much longer and using more juice in the process.
Pretty sure that you can dry one chamber (2 rolls) at a time, instead of both chambers.
Actually that has 2 chambers for 2 spools, so it’s not as restrictive as the AMS 2 drying. It’s not a perfect device but the people I know who are using this are happy with it. I dry TPU/ABS/ASA/PC/PA6 quite a bit but never more that a roll or two at a time. Even with that grouping you have 80 or 85 so being able to dry one for 18 hours at 80 and another at 85 for 8 hours is convenient.

Funny thing… they may only go to 70, but that was sufficient for mine to deform the internal heater vent cover plate. Since then I limit myself to 65º and just run it a bit longer. Obviously I’m not too upset since I just ordered the X4.
To those who own SpacePi X4 dryer, do the humidity sensors read on the high side? Mine won’t get below 24%, after drying PLA for 8 hours.
Both SpaceP1 (single roll) and DryBox 2.0 get to the lowest sensor level of 15%, they seem to be more accurate than X4. Unless my refurbished unit is still defective.
I checked mine using two hygrometer that may or may not be accurate but agree with each other, at least:
While mildly annoying, it’s in the range of variance I see from inexpensive hygrometers. So long as it’s consistent (and it is) I can compensate for it. Not enough for me to start a warranty claim.
I also own a very nice and somewhat expensive Midea Cube “smart” dehumidifier. It consistently reads 10% higher than actual. It uses a separate sensor board that I could replace for about $35, but it’s not worth it to me. I just allow for it.
Really, it’s in the nature of consumer electronics these are all going to be all over the place. If you require a reading that is both precise and accurate, look into lab grade equipment such as Fischer Scientific’s stuff. Expect to spend around $500 for one that can operate in temperatures up to 90ºC (e.g. your dryer), or around $200 for one that can operate up to 70ºC (e.g. your dryer if you only need to dry PLA and/or PETG).
I use these too, they are great. Before I was using inverter dehumidifiers which were significantly more efficient (like $50/yr for me, and I’ve got cheap electricity) but eventually they all broke and they don’t sell them anymore in the US. I think my Midea’s read low, in other words they shut off too early, but I haven’t tested them with my calibrated hygrometer.
