US lamp-socket size

I am trying to design a big lamp where you can drop in a lamp socket with cable and switch. In the EU we have E27 bulbs (27mm thread) and in the US there are E26 bulbs (26mm thread). I believe these are somehow interchangeable.

But my most important question is: does anyone know if the sockets have somewhat standardized dimensions? Or at least the hole sizing used for lamp shades? I am talking about sockets like these:

And if this is somewhat standard, what is the diameter of the threaded portion for the hole and what is the outer diameter of the socket (to be able to fit in the design) and/or sizing of the nut.

If anybody on the other side of the pond has any meaningful insight that would be greatly appreciated! I will select a readily available socket for the EU but that is one I can order myself. The one from the US however… Thanks!

or someone from the other side of the Atlantic pond could provide you with the accurate measurements and even possibly send you an US standard E26 socket (that, unless you want to order it through Amazon.com- thou that might add customs fees on top of the purchase and shipping costs…)

Any good to you?

Try asking your favorite search engine for “images e26 lamp socket dimensions”.

Yeah, I know, I was more interested in the fact whether it was standardized and the hole size they use in lamp shades. Because this is also coming up in those search results:

So I guess there is no ‘standard’, because this one needs hole of 40mm while the previous example has a body with a smaller diameter (39mm on the green line if I can trust the drawing) and thus would not be able to tighten against the hole:

But I think I’ll base the design around these amazon ones from the US site:

Because they look very similar to the ones we can get here:

And then it is just hoping that they are (somewhat) interchangeable
