Use the AMS to transfer filament from one spool to another

Here’s a thought. Maybe Bambu could come up with a mode in the AMS to allow us to transfer filament from an external spool to an empty spool in the AMS. That would be a useful feature.

From the AMS it’s one way traffic. Feeding from the buffer/hub towards the AMS it’s not possible.

Mine pulls the filament back towards the AMS every time it swaps from one filament to the other. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yeah. It definitely retracts the filament past the buffer and all the way back to the AMS when switching to a new filament or at the end of the job. But the feed is only one way (from the AMS end of the tube). You probably won’t have much luck pushing filament in from the back side of the AMS. Also, based on complaints I’ve seen in the forum, the AMS doesn’t seem quite as robust as it maybe ought to be. Using it for this is probably not the best idea since it’ll cause additional/excess wear on the AMS components.

Imagine complaints about AMS going up 1000%. Nah. Besides wearing out the already hard working internals, there is no mechanism to lay the filament evenly across the spool side to side. Print a Pastamatic and enjoy spooling
