This is a message for all the people who love to tinker around and “upgrade” their printers with the latest trends found on the interwebs.
This is not always a guarantee that your 3D printer will perform better than before. In a lot of cases it will actually create new issues.
The more you mess around with the printer (and the settings) the harder it will be to diagnose something when inevetably it will missbehave…
After years of experience in 3D printing this is my filosophy:
Never change anything on your printer unless you have a very good reason to do so!
Don’t fix issues by changing things on your printer unless you know for sure they actually work and don’t create new issues. A better aproach is to get it back to stock when you experience issues printing. Or to get it back to a last known good working state.
To remind you of this, print out this sign and hang it over your 3D printer. I got it from my grandfathers shed. He aparently 3D printed it 80 years ago and it has prevented him making many mistakes.
This will make you think twice before modifying your printer! (and then do it anyway ;-))
