I’ve reported this guy for a blatant ripoff of my fidget cube model, but thought others on the forum here may get a chuckle. He’s just reuploading others’ work and adding “FREE TO SELL” at the end of the title. Seems to be working; he’s got 1500 downloads in a bit over a month.
Oh wow, that’s a new one. I truly don’t believe Bambu cracks down on this type of behavior well enough in general. I’ve seen accounts with unauthorized uploads of stolen, paid models that are still intact after being reported dozens of times by people. Hell, I’ve even seen them get featured. The one guy I have in mind probably got a couple X1C combos off of a stolen model by now and they let him keep doing it. Something has to give lol
Looks like he’s deleted the copy of my model after I commented on it with a screenshot comparing his and mine. Wonder if he’ll get to keep the Points it accrued, or if copyright claims still get reviewed after a model is deleted?
If he just set it to private I believe it will still get reviewed, if he deleted it I’m not sure how they handle it. Unfortunately it looks like he’s doing it on Printables too.
His youtube channel is celebrity endorsements where he’s using the celebrities (Rock, Sofia Vergara, etc) in his videos and I’m going out on a limb but bet he doesn’t have permission there either.
I hope our community can have a steady hand with this kid. If the person on the youtube channel is the same person running the makerworld account, then perhaps he doesn’t fully understand what he is doing. It feels like a teachable moment.
Chances are, like all theft, there is money to be made from stealing someone else’s work. The father is likely behind it as well because I bet they live somewhere, where the dollar goes a long way and copyright laws do not apply. The best thing a creator of digital works can do is watermark their design.
