Using Dowels and Connectors for large prints

Dowels and Connectors

Did you know you can cut large models into smaller parts, then add connectors like Plugs or Dowels which can be used later to assemble the larger model?

Start by performing a Planar Cut, then select the type of connectors you want to use followed by placing them on the side of the model.

Once the model is printed, you can use the connectors to put the model together easier.

We would love to see how the model turned out!

I suggest dowel pins be printed laying down for strength otherwise your model relies on the layer adhesion of a few very small parts for staying together. “Sink” them into the plate a little by performing a “cut” so they print clean.

BTW I would love for these two steps to be automated.

That creates very pronounced seams, lets just have a printer with bigger build volume released please
