I have a use case for swapping the tool head parts from the X1C out for the P1, primarily the more durable and robust connectors for the hot end assembly on the P1. I’m teaching a certification class at a maker space and having dozens of people swap out hot ends is really starting to take its toll on the surface mount connectors. Honestly, it’s a really stupid design choice that could have been solved (and was) for a small amount of effort. Has anyone done this swap or have any idea what it would entail?
My second idea is to make a custom pcb of cable harness that uses more durable disconnects and affixes permanently to the tool connector board.
P1 connectors are just as difficult IMO. I’d look at cutting the wires and adding in magnetic pogo pins.
