Using TPU on my X2D

So, I want to print using TPU. To avoid issues like clogging or jamming, I am trying to figure out what settings need to be adjusted and such. AI tells me to bypass the AMS completely, disconnect the PTFE tube feeding he AMS into the printer and manually feed the TPU. Also it stated to loosen some screw on the extruder??? Seriously, I am confused. Can anyone offer me some insight on what I actually need to do to print with this TPU??? Thanks in advance

I would only loosen extruder tension screws as a last resort

Your ultimate goal is to provide as close to zero resistance as you pull the tpu off the roll. TONS of variable here, maybe your roll is self sticky, maybe its thru PTFE that it doesnt like, maybe your rollers dont roll well, etc.
If there’s resistance, the line of filament acts like a rubber band, and thins out as its being held in tension. Now the extruder is pushing a thinned band of plastic in when it is expecting a full noodle of plastic, and you get random underextrusions. Feed Resistance is TPU’s enemy - which is why bambu + more sell “TPU assist kits” that are basically AMS feed motors.

I’m a big fan of top mount w/ bearing-based rollers, tpu noodle hangs in the air, and a 1" piece of PTFE mounted on the extruder inlet just as a guide. Set speeds to low, and it solves my problems on many different types of printers without having to dive any deeper - A1, P1s, ACKX, Qidi +4, ECC

edit: and dry it. Strings with tpu are generally bigger and gloopier, harder to postprocess away
