UX: File Upload to Folder

I organize a lot of my models with variants in folders. Please add an option to let me upload directly to a folder. Moving all individual files via Drag’n’Drop can be quite cumbersome. Or add a multiselectoption.

just add a zip file ? prtty sure it works

Indeed, I hadn’t considered that option, but I’d rather avoid double zipped files for the user. Also you would no longer be able to browser and download individual files.

Do you mean this option?

Yes, exactly like that, or having the ability to drag and drop files directly from your desktop into the specified area marked ‘drag uploaded files here to add them to this folder’. It would be beneficial to have a feature that recognizes where you release the left mouse button, enabling the file to be placed specifically in the intended folder, rather than automatically uploading it to the root directory.

Maybe if we could upload a folder from the computer to makerworld and the hierarchy tree of the folders with the files in it are kept that would be even easier and faster for the end users.

By seeing this screenshot, it seems already possible to drag n drop files into a specific folders. I’m missing something?

No that is just a mockup / edited screenshot.

Upgrading this feature would be a significant improvement, allowing for the upload of an entire project while preserving the original folder structure. This streamlines the process considerably. The compatibility with browsers appears promising, as indicated by the information available here: HTMLInputElement: webkitdirectory property - Web APIs | MDN

I’m also keen on the addition of subfolder support, which would greatly enhance the platform’s usability for bigger projects.

Drag and drop files to the target folder is a good idea!
