Vapor Smoothing ASA-CF

Does anyone have any experience with vapor smoothing Bambu ASA-CF with acetone. Does the carbon fiber mess with the surface finish since it can’t be dissolved by the acetone?

I’ve had good luck dipping Bambu ABS, ABS-GF and ASA parts. I haven’t had much luck vapour smoothing Bambu ABS/ASA. It seems the additives cause issue with this.

Solved: Will BBL ABS support a proper solvent weld?

I’ve read that it has a lot of additives in it, to the point where a vapor gloss doesn’t work so well, so I’m wondering whether a full-on solvent weld between two parts each printed in BBL ABS using acetone as the solvent would work or not. I’m under the impression that with regular, pure ABS, that such a weld would work. Anyone tried it, or otherwise know?

ABS-GF smoothing?

Here is a part printed with Bambu ABS-GF and half dipped in acetone. The texture remains but the area is glossy and feels smooth compared to the rougher non dipped area. This is currently my favourite filament to print with. [PXL_20240626_182050072]
