Vendor Reviews

BBB for 3D printing vendors. Good vendors, sketchy vendors and experiences with them?

I’m trying to find out a little more about VOXELPLA before ordering from them. I don’t know why but I just had a sense of stranger-danger when I was about to give them credit-card information and decided to “tap the brakes”. I saw a couple of REDDIT posts that talked about long order wait times and possibly sub-par items but I was really considering ordering the pre-made Mini Bento Box carbon scrubber from them. Calling the listed phone number (657) 206-5209 and getting a vague recorded message made it even more suspicious. Anyone have experience dealing with these guys?

I have used VOXEL PLA for the past 8 months, or so. They’re a great company, but appear to be a startup on filament. Sometimes they’re out of colors. Their supply appears to be smoothing out. I love their PLA filament. Previously, I used a lot of 3D-FUEL filament. The problem is the 3DF price creep. I started using them at about $25 a spool after a friends recommendation. Now they’re up to about to about $40… ouch.
I tried VOXEL PLA because they’re only a couple of miles from my house, and they would let me will-call.

I tried my first ASA on my X1C recently. I realized I needed a good filter. I was going to build a Bento Box. But after pricing a lot of parts I many never need extras of, I decided $35 was a great deal. They are an ‘official supplier’ of the Bento Box. The also have a great price on the carbon filter material. Bento specifies ‘Acid-free activated carbon’. If it’s not acid-free, it will destroy you printer innards. It’s pretty touch and go finding a believable source. VOXEL PLA carries all the supplies at a reasonable cost. After trying my Bento, I very much recommend getting one for ASA, etc.

I may sound like a paid shill, but I’m just a VERY satisfied customer. They’re just great folks. Very good on customer service.

P.S. Their spools work great in the AMS. I’m running dual AMS units, no problem.

I tried calling them several times during business hours and could never reach anyone. So, I ordered the parts on Amazon and will just make my own. For $50 plus filament I can make two and have leftover carbon for the filter refills.
