Very rough surface

Hi all. My son is getting into designing on On Shape. He is trying to make a mouse pad. For some reason the surface quality is really choppy. We have reprinted it and seems to be random where it is happening. At first I thought the tool head is reaching to far on the outer boundary but it’s also happening on the areas it does not have to travel as far.

We are noobs and love the printer. The thing is a work horse so undoubtedly I feel like it’s user input error. Can the group help us out? Please let me know what slicer settings would be helpful to show. Thanks all!

From the photo it looks like it could just be a plate that requires a decent clean with warm water and soap.

All plates get a build up of previous filament, grease from inadvertent touches with fingers and so on.

It’s worth giving it a clean to at least rule that out.

Thank you we will do a good clean today and re glue. I know that’s been a while. It deceiving cause the parts stick good.

When you have cleaned it, just print a single layer, it that looks smooth, the clean is good.
